Back in January, the Pure Mobile blog reported on the unveiling of two brand new Sony mobile phones – the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. They're the latest additions to Sony's growing Xperia line, which includes the Xperia T, the "official James Bond phone." But each is pretty distinct in its capabilities and target user.
At the time of unveiling, we gushed about the Xperia ZL's 5-inch,1080p TFT Reality display and a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and were impressed by its 13MP rear-facing camera.
But what we liked most about the newest Sony phone was its Battery Stamina Mode feature, which turns off your data stream when your phone is idle, increasing standby time by up to 400 percent.
But now, rather than scrutinizing and admiring the Xperia ZL from afar, it looks like us Canadians will finally get to check one out for real, and soon too. Mobile Syrup reported this week that an April 2 Canadian launch date for the ZL has been slated.
The information originally came from a Bell internal document, but Mobile Syrup says the date has been confirmed. And, in addition to Bell, we can expect wireless carrier Rogers to receive the new Sony phone as well. Both carriers have opened pre-registration for the device.
So how much will a brand new Xperia ZL cost you? A second Mobile Syrup report, this time drawing on an internal document from Rogers, revealed that carrier's pricing: roughly $625 outright, or $125 on a three-year contract.
So Canada, are you ready to welcome the latest member of the Sony Xperia family? We sure are.
