3G or third generation phones are a new innovation in the field of telecommunication and these have many advantages over 2G phones in terms of speed and coverage area. The advantages primarily emanate from the fact that 3G networks allow for more efficient use of spectrum than 2G technology. Most of the high end mobile devices these days are 3G compatible and as the technology becomes more widespread almost all phones will come equipped with 3G services.
