In an era where patents are sold and bought like commodities in lieu of protecting intellectual rights; and where mall innovators are snapped up for their technological visions and execution, – HTC is a wonder to behold. The rising star of the smartphone world has « arrived. »
Ten years ago HTC couldn’t even be considered a boutique cell phone to set yourself apart from the mundane crowd of Motorolas and Nokias. It was, however, a company earning its chops manufacturing hardware for Windows Mobile-powered devices for household names like Compaq and XDA. Now HTC is manufacturing the Raider, Amaze and Desire line of cell phones coupled with a plethora a innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories
HTC’s big break came in 2008 : with the Android. The Dream and G1, which launched the brand into the periphery of the ever growing smart phone consumer market. Its years as a technological innovator for Windows helped carve a niche and secure a market notoriety for cell phone and mobile accessories.
The following video provides an excellent account of The Quietly Brilliant Story of HTC
Throughout the years there has been escalating competition in particular from Samsung cell phones. But as any good capitalist knows, a competitive environment spurs creativity and innovation. And, as any informed consumer knows, also keeps costs competitive thanks to vendor agnostic retailers such as puremobile.ca where the buffet of unlocked cell phone and mobile devices can be sampled, reviewed, and easily paired with practical yet fun wireless accessories.
HTC is an underdog with elegant and smart technology that marries performance and beauty into something intuitive and tangible for a memorable end user experience. Translation? HTC is a rising star . They may have lost the dominant Android market share to Samsung but the recent performance and successes of Sensation and EVO 3D will pair with upcoming jewels like the Ville and sharp music accessory bundles (without the proprietary encumbrance of Apple’s iTunes) for a bright 2012.

Very recently, there was news that the TweetDeck Beta for Android had been leaked and the news was met with a huge frenzy and craze from all over the globe, but that excitement soon died down when it was reported that the leaked version was an old build. However, there is something to get excited as of now. The Twitter application that is on Android phone will be launched in just over a few days or so, as it was reported on the Twitter account of TweetDeck. (That could easily make for a very hard tongue twister: TweetDeck Twitter Account)
But unfortunately, it will not be available in the Android market just as yet, which is definitely not a very good thing. It is being reported that it might take at least a few more months or even a year for this to happen, and that is just plain sad. But what can we do other than to just wait for it. We might have to just be content for now with Twitter or Seemic for Android to keep hold of yourself for the time being (at least it is much better than having nothing at all). But do remember, ‘patience is a virtue’.
You know very well how time flies and very soon, you might just be tweeting about your lunch menu, dinner place, hangouts with your friends or a date with your hot girlfriend and might just end up sharing every bit of gossip and news and become a rage among your friends. Now, that would not be half as bad, would it? However, do unlocked iPhone4 users need to be reminded that it is already available for your platform?
As said before, the application has not been made available in the Android market, and all the details pertaining to its installation and other information are available in the TweetDeck blog.
We finally got our first chance to get a close feel of the Unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia X 10 Mini Pro and we can tell you that the first signs are pretty good. Although we have not gone and come up with an entire review for this one, we can surely give you a good idea of what is to come. This we can tell you the X 10 Mini Pro is a much better device than the original. The older and much more bulky Xperia X 10 has software which is much behind this new phone and the Xperia X 10 performance is much smoother and more responsive as compared to the earlier and we were left wanting for more. We were actually hoping that Mediascape which is Sony’s own app which allows you to check on the tweets and Facebook. This would have somewhat made the operation ever more smooth.
UI of this cell phone has been changed to some extent such that one can use a smaller screen which we do not mind. All the apps are shown in grids and the widgets take up the entire home screen. The layout can also adjust itself such that it can take up larger Widgets. On this phone we can get the four corners which will house some of the apps which you use the most. The functions of the address book, music, and phone are there on the default widget lists. The only thing on which the phone loses out on is its battery life. We got through with only a day after using it pretty much. However one need not be bummed as this phone does come with the standard features of Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS.
We have just started to check this phone out and have not given then full verdict on it yet, stick around to know more.
Eldar Murtazin recently presented details about the Android Gingerbread on the Russian podcast Digestive. According to it, Gingerbread will be accessible on advanced devices, which have 1 GHz processors, 512 MBs of RAM, and a large touch screen. Most of the Android devices don’t have any of these features, and hence, are not suitable for the Gingerbread. Only Android phones that were launched earlier this year are able to meet these criteria. A resolution of up to 1280×760 will be supported, and the new user interface will be taking note from the Android 2.1’s photo gallery. But whether or not this means that the UI will be 3-D like is still a guess. But with the 1 GHz processor, a 3-D UI will be very easy to take on.
The low-end Android devices will have to remain happy with 2.1 or 2.2, and as for the Motorola Droid, it will have to remain satisfied with the Froyo only. When it comes to processing power, 1 GHz is the new 528 MHz, and devices such as Unlocked HTC Hero or CLIQ will be unable to tackle Gingerbread. The great divide between the low-end devices and high-end devices by Android will get even more prominent with this Gingerbread issue. Users of myTouch 3G or myTouch 3G Slide will not be happy at all. Both these sets are new inclusions in the market, but they do not meet the hardware conditions that are required for Gingerbread. On the other hand, for people who own a Google’s Unlocked Nexus One or some other high-end device, they will be excited beyond belief, since their phones’ hardware standards meet that of the Gingerbread’s requirements. But this does not necessarily mean that your device will be best suited for the Gingerbread.
According to Murtazin, the Gingerbread will most likely be introduced in the month of October.
How many times have you used your smartphone to transfer documents from your office to home, but realize that you urgently forgot to take out a printout of the document before transferring them? Well, this might all soon be in the past as it has been stated that HP is set to introduce an entire range of Unlocked Smartphones that have the capability of printing directly from the mobile. Reports suggest that this will be possible because HP is planning on assigning a unique email address to each printer so that you can print a copy of what you need directly from your phone to your home printer, so that they would be ready when you return back home. While nothing has been officially stated, predications show that rates for the new printers will be anywhere from $100 to $400. At the same time, an entire range of web based services are planned for launching by HP in future in conjunction with the printers, although no official dates have been released.
Says Vyomesh I. Joshi, head of Hewlett-Packard, “Nearly everyone has been in a situation where they required some documents for printing urgently, but no one was present at home to carry out the printing. While we are the world’s largest technology company, we have decided to get back to our roots and develop an entire range of printers that customers can use to third advantage on the go, anytime they require to. The new printers will cost between $100- $400 and will be a breakthrough feature as it can allow one to print even when not at home or the office.”
It can now become possible to take a photo from your unlocked phone at work and send the photo to web ready printers so that it can be ready when you arrive at home. You can even share the email address of the printer with your family and friends so that if they are based in a different country from you, you can still view a copy of a photo clicked, at home.
