Looking to check into your packages while you are on the go? If you send a lot of packages through UPS and would like to have a good idea of where each of the packages are at any given time, you may be interested in the UPS iPhone application that will be debuting for the iPhone.
Unlike many other apps, this app was already available for BlackBerry such as Unlocked BlackBerry Curve 8520 and Android devices. It has already sold over 2 million units overall. Now, the company announced that the app is now available in the iTunes app marketplace.
The app has a number of very interesting features. It allows you to check where the package was last scanned in, where it currently is, and whether or not it is currently on time or not. You can also filter your results by scrolling through the names of the recipients on the list.
The app also allows you to find the nearest UPS location to your current area by looking through a GPS setup. This is good news for unlocked iPhone4 users who are always sending packages and up until this point have not have a good and efficient way to track packages.
The app is currently free, and is available in two different languages – English and French. It is a bit surprising that the app took this long to make its way to the Apple app store, but Apple is notoriously strict with who they let into their app store. The fact that the app did very well on both Android and BlackBerry likely helped them to expand to the Apple app store as well. The app is expected to remain free for the time being, and utilizes many of the same features that are available on the company website. Included in the app is a quote screen which gives you a good idea of what the device is capable of.

According to a leading cell phone mobile blog, Apple has released their 10.1 version of iTunes and they also updated their iOS 4.2 for the iPad through its developer portal. Most people would figure that there would not be many new features in these updates – and really, they are kind of right. Although there were no releases on the updates features of their update of iOS 4.2 for the iPad, there were some released new features for iTunes 10.1. We will let you know of them in this article.
The first new feature of iTunes 10.1 is that you can use AirPlay to instantly and wirelessly stream all kinds of videos from iTunes to the new Apple TV. This is a feature that a lot of iTunes were pushing to happen for quite some time, and they finally got around to making the update. The second updated feature in the new iTunes is that you can sync your unlocked iPhone 4, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.2. This will make it a lot more convenient for those that were not able to sync their device with iOS 4.2 in the past; a lot of people will be very happy with this change. The final change that they are making is that it will “provide a number of important stability and performance improvements.” One can guess what they mean by that, but you can probably guess that the overall performance and speed of iTunes will be much improved from the older version. This may or may not be noticed, but at least it will be an improvement that will make their program look that much bigger. There have not been many that have commented on the update, but you can check it out the update and let us know what you think.

The camera has always been one of the biggest draws on any of the iPhone products. Its ease of use, simplicity and high quality have always added to the users experience. However, now the unlocked iPhone 4 comes with a 5 mega pixel camera built directly in to the phone, allowing you to take high quality photos with the click of a button and send them to your friends. Because the iPhone 4 has cameras on both the front and the back of the phone, you can also easily take pictures of yourself using the iPhone 4 using the front-facing camera that is most often used for video chatting and FaceTime video.
Amazing HDR Photography
The high dynamic range function allows you to find the perfect lighting for every picture that you take. Select the right type of lighting for the picture you are going to take, and be amazed with the results that you receive. The difference in exposure levels can completely change the feel of a picture, adding or removing intricate details that are present in the landscape in front of you. You can choose to take a picture with the “regular shot,” or the high dynamic view. Both of these options are available with one click of the screen in the camera roll.
Built In Flash
Having trouble taking pictures at night, during dinner or at a club or bar? The iPhone 4 comes complete with a built-in LED flash that gives you perfect lighting in even the darkest of situation. The 5 mega pixel camera also comes with auto-detection for when the flash is required to receive the highest quality of picture.
Front Facing Camera
The front facing camera allows you to easily take a picture of yourself without having to turn your hand around and hold it far away from yourself, awkwardly. The iPhone 4 unlocked handset allows you to quickly take a self-portrait picture and then upload it directly to your social networking account or share the photo with friends. The front facing camera allows you to see exactly what you are taking a shot of on the screen as you gear up to take a picture, ensuring that you won’t have to constantly re-take portrait shots until you have the right one.
Auto-Focus
The iPhone 4 HD camera also allows you to auto-focus your shots with the click of a button. The macro lens is ideal for both distance shots and closeups. By touching the iPhone display, the lens will automatically focus on the portion of the picture that you have chosen. For instance, if you are taking a picture of your child’s Halloween costume but the phone is having a hard time focusing on it, just tap the face of the person wearing the costume and the phone will automatically adjust and focus.

Apple has finally overtaken Research in Motion (RIM) in mobile phone sales according to the latest International Data Corporation (IDC) statistics. The IDC has been tracking mobile phone sales since 2004 and this is the first time that Apple has made it into the top five as well as the first time that the Blackberry manufacturer has been bested by the iPhone maker.
Sales have increased in the last quarter due in large to the release of the unlocked iPhone 4. Seventeen new countries are now selling the latest version of the phone and the recent “Antennagate” controversies surrounding the smartphone have seemed not to hinder their sales. Whether it is a standard issue or iPhone, Apple’s newest version is a truly popular consumer product. Every three months, the company is shipping out over fourteen million units.

Research In Motion has seen gains as well with their BlackBerry Curve 8520 Unlocked handset, which is a popular lower end model. This particular phone has done well in emerging markets such as Latin America and Canada. With the release of the Torch and the announcement of their tablet that will debut next year, RIM is hoping to regain their higher positioning and increase their sales.

The smartphone market has had an effect on the other phone manufacturers as well. For the first time since the advent of this ranking, Sony Erissson is no longer one of the top five brands. Nokia who is the current leader has seen slowing sales in part to lower priced competition throughout the world. They have also had to focus research and development on the smartphone market to keep pace with Apple and RIM.
Competition is always good for business, and there is no phone company that is able to sit on their laurels. Consumers are increasingly demanding and only the company that is the most progressive and offers the best product will survive and succeed. The next year should be interesting due to the release of new models such as the RIM PlayBook and the next version of the iPad. Whichever company delivers the best product will come out on top.

Rumours are circulating across the internet that Dell are set to announce the development of several different sized tablets to compete with the recent Apple success the iPad. It’s been known for the last couple of weeks that Dell have been working on a seven inch Android powered tablet but now it seems this will be the first of many, with later tablets set to measure 11inches or bigger.

This is a natural development in the new market created by the development of the iPad and with the Androids traditionally more open App network it’s likely we’ll see tablets being utilised for a variety of different uses than currently available with the iPad.
One of the biggest issues many consumers have with the iPad is the ‘closed garden’ app store it runs. This stops third-parties creating free apps that do the same as apple apps which can be relatively expensive. With Android there are dramatically less restrictions on third-party apps and whilst this can save money for individual users, there can also be problems with malicious software and spyware.
The most exciting news circulating at the moment with regards to these tablets however involve the rumours of tablets as small as 3-4inches. What uses these might have can only be speculated at however it is very clear that Dell really intend to shake up the tablet market.
Leaked images of the 7 and 11 inch tablets show a device that looks very similar to Apples unlocked iPhone4, sleek with a back case and possibly a 5Megapixel camera on the back.

A global supply manager for Apple was arrested on Friday. The man named Paul Shin Devine was arrested with charges of money laundering, kickbacks and wire fraud after he was indicted for leaking iPod and iPhone trade secrets to suppliers in Asia. Paul Devine has been accused of receiving over $1 million from Asian suppliers for exchanging secret trade information about the iPhone4 unlocked handset and iPod touch. The information provided by Paul Devine was used by the Asian accessory maker to negotiate a lucrative deal with Apple.

Investigation revealed many schemes involving international and US banks where accounts were opened using Devine’s wife’s name. The mediation of many transactions were made by, CPK Engineering, a fake company from which he received bribes. He even devised a secret language where leaked information was written as “samples” so that his co-workers couldn’t find about the transactions.
Another accused in the case is a resident of Singapore named Andrew Ang. He was the receiver of some of the leaked information. The names of the Asian companies that were involved were not disclosed but it was revealed that they were suppliers for iPod Touch and unlocked iPhone4. These companies were located in Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and China. The investigation was jointly conducted by the FBI and IRS.
On top of the federal indictment, a civil case was filed against him by Apple, in order to get compensation for damages. The nature of the information that was leaked remains unknown and so does the amount of damages. Apple’s response to the arrest of Devine was harsh. The Spokesperson for Apple Steve Dowling said publicly that, Apple maintains a high moral standard in their manner of business and they do not tolerate any dishonest behaviour.
This is the first time in the company’s 34 year long history that an employee is arrested for giving out trade secrets.

Dell, entering the competitive world of smartphones, was something that everyone dreamed of and it seems as if their dreams are about to come true, and that too in a big away not too far in the future. The company is planning the release of a Windows Phone 7 handset and a leak few months back revealed the company’s plans of launching a few devices that will be powered by Android. It seems like the competition to get us to but smart phones just got even hotter.
The Dell Thunder is supposedly going to have a 4.1 inch OLED screen, but after HTC’s recent enforced change to Sony’s Super LCD because Samsung was not being able to cope with the demands for OLED screens, we can never be too sure until it is actually launched. The Thunder is also going to have an 8 MP camera that will have the capacity to shoot 720p videos, on the lines of the Droid X from Motorola, the Unlocked iPhone4 and almost all the new smart phones that are being launched in the market.
The model that was leaked was seen to be running the Android 2.1 but the actual release will probably have the Froyo or the Android 2.2, it was revealed by a source close to the company. However, when it will be launched and how much it will cost was not revealed.

However, with the lack of production of the Dell Aero which was released in March raises the question if Dell will actually be able to meet the demands if it does actually launch the phone into the market. The company has won over many hearts with its PC’s and laptops, but people and experts are already very skeptical about the long term success of the company in this market.

Apple Inc is an American MNC (Multinational Corporation) that designs computer hardware, computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers. Apple is famous for some of its hardware products like the iPod, the iPhone, the Macintosh computers and the iPad. Its software products are equally famous all over the world namely Mac OS X, the iLife, the media browser iTunes, the iWork, the Aperture etc.

June 29, 2007 was the day the iPhone was launched by Apple. The hardware engineers had realized the need of a cutting edge operating system for smooth-running of the iPhone. So they came out with iOS, which was previously known as iPhone OS. Now iOS runs on both iPad and iPod. Regular updates to the OS for the iPad, iPhone4 and iPod Touch are provided by Apple through iTunes. This is an exceptional feature of the iPhone and it gives the iDevices an edge over other mobiles and devices.

On August 3rd, 2010 Apple released the latest update to iOS 4 beta and the SDK corresponding to it. This brings the current edition of both to iOS 4.1 beta 3.
The latest in news is that iOS 4 beta 3 has announced that people can now avail of FaceTime via email. Earlier FaceTime was only available in phone calls and in the contacts list. Now the display is such that in the Contact’s app, an email option appears on the screen besides the usual phone number option to start a call. This might make FaceTime the future of iOS devices which are fitted with front-facing cameras.
It is believed that Apple is preparing to use at least one front-facing camera that is compatible with FaceTime for the iPod Touch of the next generation. Rumors say it will be introduced next month. Several pictures of iPods have surfaced that claim to be the generation-next iPod. Speculations have also risen regarding Apple’s iPad having a front-facing camera, although such speculations are mere words and not backed by any substantial evidence. It would be all the more better if Apple takes a step forward and allows its customers to make FaceTime calls over 3G without downloading third-party applications or jailbreaking our own devices.

Due to its encryption capabilities, Indonesia wants a ban on Research in Motion’s BlackBerry.
In a way, RIM’s punishment is for being too secure. The data generated in a BlackBerry is encrypted twice, first on the device itself and then on RIM’s servers. Not even the maker of the BlackBerry cell phone can access the data and that is the reason behind it being so popular with different enterprises.
The governments of different Asian counties say that they need to track and access data on these devices in order to prevent terrorist activities and barricade their coordination, but that doesn’t imply that it has right to spy on its citizens.
RIM has addressed on this issue multiple times…
In an announcement, RIM said that the BlackBerry enterprise solution was designed to exclude RIM or any other party, from deciphering encrypted information under any condition, as RIM does not save or have admittance to the coded data.
In order to increase the efficiency of an economic centre a BlackBerry is a necessary gadget. These countries have a huge number of BlackBerry users which RIM can use to win competition against the Google Android and Apple’s unlocked iPhone4.
If the governments of these counties wish to monitor their citizens, and find it more important than improving the economy, then RIM should maintain its pride and tell the governments to find a solution for themselves.
