Android Market Rules Mobile Application Stores

Although the market for Android cannot be ideally called perfect, it has a way of getting work done. This could be because the Market is different from its competitors in many ways. The market for Android has the most number of applications, which are free of in comparison to all mobile applications store out there.

The free applications in the Android Market constitute over half of the total market place, convincingly beating any other company in providing free applications. There are some people though, who state that the Android Market is not mature enough at this stage to make generate that kind of money that an Application Store generates. Although they might be right, free applications are still catchier to the average customer. And just because it is free, does not mean it compromises on quality. The developers have other ways of making more money. And in order to make more money, advertisements seem to be the way to go for Android right at the moment. The price on an average to avail all Android applications is $3.29. The price on an average for the top 100 applications is $4.27. This is way cheaper than Apple’s $4.65 and $6.02 price points. But one thing that cannot be denied is that, the applications coming from Apple for unlocked Iphone 4 are far more polished than those coming from the Android Market. Most of the applications from the Android Market do not provide any guidelines to help the user to keep the interface consistent, and these results in a total mess.

Google activates around 2 phones per second; so the total number of devices activated each day is about 160,000. If things continue like this then the OS will outpace almost every competitor with units sold. At this point, developers will go to the Android Market with great application offerings.

The war between Google Nexus One Unlocked handset  and Apple Iphones  continues, each trying to outdo the other with the latest of technologies, and regardless of who wins this race, we, the users, are the real benefactors every time.

Android provides highest Free Apps

Though it’s quite evident that the Android market does have its ups and downs along with its numerous loopholes yet ironically it manages to get the net result to be on their side. The bottom-line: they get the job done. And if the recent performance charts are anything to go by then it definitely indicates the booming Android Smartphone (Google Nexus One Unlocked) industries market. They seem to have taken the world by storm with their technology.

The marketers’ of the Android technology has used a masterstroke by giving new definition to the word ‘free’. Generally when any company provides anything with its product as ‘free’ then it’s a general notion of the customers that it is expendable. But Android technology has made a huge proportion of their applications that are compatible and can be installed in their smart phones free. This Android market has the highest portion of free applications in any of the mobile applications store in the world. The free applications that the Android makers boast off comprise of a full 57 percent of the entire market place. As it is an application, which is free, and not a product hence customers are not really feeling that it’s of lesser quality. In this process the developers attract more customers with the ‘free’ tag. Hence ironically the makers are making more money by selling stuff for free.

But truth be told, the free applications that stream out from the Android market may cost a lot less than its Apple iPhone4 counterparts but they lack the finesse and the beauty of the applications that are available on the Apps store. But the cheap price tag does help in getting itself a lot of customers. The Android applications are sold at $3.29 whereas the average price of some of the best appearance software from that of an App store costs around $4.27.

Google Voice now available to all

Considering the fact that most things coming from Google are completely free to use, it is not at all surprising that Google Voice has also joined this bandwagon. While in the past users had to pay in order to secure an invitation for Google Voice, a call forwarding service, it is now completely free to use by anyone. With Google Voice it becomes possible for users to use a particular phone number to then ring others. Other functionalities also include the ability of SMS, call screening, call conferencing, personalized greetings as well as voicemail transcriptions. This service from Google is being offered via the internet and other selected mobile devices like Unlocked Google Nexus One which are running the Android operating system.

According to a press release of Google, “Some time ago we came up with an innovative project allowing users to manage their communications. Similar to free email and text messages, we introduced a single phone number that could be use to ring voicemail as well as other phones. It also provided low international call rates. The only problem was that you had to pay to receive an invitation from us. We are now pleased to announce that Google Voice has now been extended to the public free of cost. We are extremely grateful to the various suggestions that users have provided us over the past months since the launch of Google Voice.”

There have been many functionalities added to Google Voice that allow an integrated voice player in Gmail, a mobile web application and the ability of using Google Voice directly with an existing mobile number. FlyCast unveils new app gallery

A new device open source library has been unveiled by FlyCast. FlyCast is an online network broadcast service that can work well on Android platforms, BlackBerry’s, the iPhone as well as others. This open source library showcases a variety of mobile applications that have been created with CSS3, JavaScript and HTML5. According to a press release statement by FlyCast, the overall idea is to show users that great mobile experiences can be created through the use of different web technologies.

According to FlyCast, “By using our new cross-platform rapid mobile app development and deployment ecosystem, developers will have the ability of deploying applications across multiple browsers and operating systems include some of the latest OS such as the iOS of the iPhone 4 and Google’s Nexus One Unlocked Android.  Our application is also fully functional and TOS compatible.”

Through the use of this application of FlyCast, it becomes possible to ensure that developers all have the ability of creating applications only once so that they can then be deployed across multiple platforms. In fact, through the use of the open source library, it becomes quite possible to go about creating a list of applications that are even compatible with the Android and iOS. In fact, all applications that are made with appMobi are fully compatible with the terms and conditions of Apple indicating that there is a compiler that is also included in the program. When you decide to make use of appMobi, you will also be able to stream music in the background, giving you the capability of developing applications such as radio stations that can then be deployed across other operating systems.

Currently the source code is already made available and is being offered as per MIT open source license. FlyCast’s application is being offered on a pay-per-development basis and also includes tools such as PhoneGap support along with Amazon AWS edge-caching servers.
