If you are currently in the market for a new cell phone but not interested in all of text message driven smartphones then Sony Ericsson may have a new phone for you. Sony Ericsson recently launched a pair of Walkman phones known as the Zylo and Spiro. Both phones feature the Sony Ericsson Walkman music player as well as built in apps for Facebook and Twitter access. Other than these two features these two new phones are true featurephone devices with QVGA resolution screens and a numeric keypad.
The Zylo is the more upscale model of the two new devices. With a larger 2.6 screen the Zylo also gets a high-quality music playback option. The Walkman on the Zylo can handle lossless FLAC flies as well. One of the cool features of the Zylo is that the device has the ability to play music files in the background during conversations so you can let a caller listen to your playlist. The Zylo even comes with ambient noise tracks for the background so that you can pretend to be calling from a work office, street or restaurant.

The Spiro is lacking in the additional features department from the Zylo. The Spiro does not have FLAC support and also lacks the background music playback and ambient noise tracks. The simpler Spiro comes with a 2.2” QVGA display to go along with the Walkman player. The one standout feature of the Spiro is the one-touch access to TrackID which is Sony Ericsson’s music identification service.
While many mobile device customers are into the various unlocked smartphones that have infiltrated the market it is nice to know that there are still other options out there if you do not have a need to be connected on Facebook or Twitter all of the time. The pricing for the Zylo and Spiro is unknown at this time but the two devices are expected to be available in Q3 of 2010.

Even though interest in the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 has seemed to wane a little after this week’s official announcement that multitouch will never be a feature of the device due to a hardware limitation this will not stop Rogers from continuing to push the XPERIA X10. According to the website MobileSyrup Rogers has narrowed down the release window for the Android smartphone to the week of April 7th to 14th and assigned tentative pricing. It looks like this newest Android device could be had for as low as $149.99 with a contract of course. Rogers had previously stated they would be offering pre-orders, which has yet to happen, which makes us think they better get a move on it if they expect to release this phone in as little as six days.

While the announcement that multitouch would never be a feature of this new device was a bit of a downer it should not deter many consumers from scooping up the latest Android phone from Sony Ericsson. The XPERIA X10 is expected to have all of the great features that we have grown to expect from the various Android devices and then some. The contract price of $149.99 is also very reasonable and in line with comparable devices on the market today. I hope that MobileSyrup’s rumor of a launch date between April 7th and 14th is accurate because the wait has been long enough for this device to hit store shelves. If you are a customer of the Rogers wireless network I would highly recommend checking out a version of this new Android phone for yourself and consider making the switch. I am sure that you will be glad that you did.

Will there be a Sony cell phone based on the playstation? Well, it looks like there may be one in production. It was only a matter of time before Sony decided that they were going to develop a smart phone that would allow you to download and play Sony PlayStation games. This information is based on a report from the Wall Street Journal that was published on Thursday, March 4. This is in response to Apple corporations growing market share in the mobile gaming sector. It is anticipated that the new smart phone will give Apple some competition with its upcoming release of the iPad, as well as the numerous gaming options available for the iPhone through the app store as well as the upcoming release of the iControlPad made specifically for the iPhone.
The smart phone that Sony is developing will also be able to be utilized with their online gaming platform that will be released later this month in the United States. This service will have many of the same things that Apple is currently offering through its iTunes and mobile application store. Sony is hoping to be able to offer services not only for mobile phones, but allow people to access many of its games through its online platform.

Right now there are no other details as far as when this new smart phone will be released or any of the designs are features are unknown. What is known is that Sony will probably continue to develop additional smart phones by working closely with Sony Ericsson cell phones. Through this partnership it is assumed that Sony is looking to gain its market share in the mobile device market that enables users to play some of their favorite PlayStation games. We may actually see this new mobile device from Sony by the end of this year.

The Sony Ericcson Vivaz is one of those new cameras…Oh wait, it is not a camera, it is a mobile phone. You would not know this unless you take a further look at this smartphone. Those digital camera companies are probably a little bit scared of this Sony Ericsso cell phone. No wonder why the camera market is declining. The Vivaz has an eight megapixel camera on board and has the HD 720p video with continuing auto focus. It even has the LED flash, face and smile detection, geotagging and touch focus.

The camera and video on this phone has everything you need to take great pictures. You will not need that digital camera sitting on your counter anymore. This is not just a great camera, but it is also a great smartphone. It has everything you are looking for in a touchscreen mobile phone. It runs in the Symbian OS and has a 3.2 inch nHD screen with 640×360 resolution. The Vivaz has 720 MHz and PowerVR SGX graphics accelerator. It works on the quad band GSM and is 3G with HSDPA 10.2 Mbps. The phone also is Wi-Fi and uses Wisepilot navigation software.
The Vivaz of course comes with the microSD card slot, TV out, Stereo FM radio, microUSB and stereo Bluetooth v2.0. The web browser has full flash support. The phone has all of these great features and looks good too. With the rounded edges and the sleek style, it is hard to believe that it can do all of the things that it says.
A few of the drawbacks are that it does not have a lens cap or no auto mode for the flash. It does not use smart dialing and there are no stereo speakers. But these are not a deal breaker as some are already getting rid of their digital cameras and taking a long hard look at the Vivaz. You will be able to share all of your photos on your favorite social networks. It should be released sometime within the first quarter of this year.

Long overdue Windows 6.5.3 has manifested itself in the Sony Ericsson Aspen, also known as the Sony Ericsson Faith. The first Windows Mobile application to successfully utilize finger friendly touch screen, and successful it is. The stylus is gone and the much awaited arrival of 6.5.3, has not been a disappointment.
Business friendly QWERTY touch key pad enables the user to quick touch memos and email and is a breeze to use for on-the-go work. The full sized on screen keyboard is more refined and easy to use. The phone has a preloaded PDF Reader, Microsoft Office Mobile, Outlook, and a full email capacity. Touch controls throughout the system will let you drop and drag with the icon function, pan and flick, and use the improved Internet Explorer Page load, these are just a few of the improvements. The Sony Ericsson Aspen is the first to use the Windows platform to successfully implement a multitouch platform for users. A magnifier helps bring touch support for all the applications.

The Aspen contains GPS Google maps, 3.2 megapixal camera, 3.5 mm audio jack and WiFi, horizontal scroll bar that replace the tab, and also a improved IE Memory management. More of the preloaded functions include, Windows Live Messenger, FaceBook, Twitter, CNN, YouTube, and Skype to make life much easier right out of the box. Aspen is a GreenHeart phone, promoting power saving modes and reclaimed products used in the phone and packaging.
The beautiful sleek design comes in black, white, and silver. This is a phone that means business and will help you do the same. It will be interesting to see what else Windows has in store for us in the future, and it is safe to say with the unlocked Sony Ericsson Aspen, Windows is more ready than ever to hit the slopes with new moves.

So a few months back we saw images for a concept cell phone called the Sony Ericsson KiKi. It looked different with the transparent screen. It seemed very futuristic. Well this week Sony Ericsson did announce the phone. It is being called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness.
Now very little is actually known about the Xperia Pureness as Sony Ericsson didn’t give any specs from it. The release date is expected to be in November and the rumoured price tag is around $1000.
I guess for now we just have to wait and see

So thanks to our friends over at BoyGeniusReport it looks like Rogers Communications will be launching the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a in June. This means that everyone will finally be able to use the HSPA functions.
We at PureMobile get calls every day about the X1a. Sony Style in the US has had it on their site since the Sony Xperia X1 came out last year but so far no one has been lucky enough to actually get their hands on one. Well at least now the wait is soon to be over and that means we will have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a unlocked as soon as we can.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a will have all the goodies of the X1, slide out keyboard, Wi-Fi, and best of all 3G. This will allow for high speed downloads on your phone rather then using the slower Edge network.
Well the good news is the rumor is that the phone will be widely available on Rogers on June 30 but they will have some available as early as June 9 so hopefully we at PureMobile will get our hands on them as soon as possible for our loyal customers

This year at the Mobile World Congress Sony Ericsson announced the Idou. Since we haven’t had any real hands on with the phone yet we, at Puremobile, thought a brief discussion of the phone was due
The Sony Ericsson Idou looks like it will definitely be a top contender and the thing that really sets this phone out above all the rest is the 12 mega pixel camera. The 12MP camera is the feature that is currently getting the most attention, but there are other features like a touch screen that looks to have been throughly tested to make sure it didn’t feel like it was just put on the phone as an after thought. Also the Idou will be working on the Symbian operating system. For people who aren’t sure it is the same one that is used by Nokia on phones like the N95. This is a robust operating system that has a proven track record for quality.
For now the Sony Ericsson Idou looks like it will be an amazing phone, but like all new phones we won’t know for sure until they are actually released. The other issue is Sony Ericsson has not announced a release date yet. So like everyone else we, at puremobile, are eagerly anticipating the release of this phone.
