iPhone 4 recall could cost Apple a whopping $15 billion according to Analyst:
The antenna and reception issue of Unlocked iPhone 4 has been haunting Apple since its introduction. The problem has been described to be widespread and there have been several enquiries about this. Needless to say that Apple is in a position where they have to assess the situation and look at a recall. It is indeed the best thing to do after many were left distraught after Steve Jobs’ series of terse e-mails to people making enquiries.
However, the damage that the company will incur as a result of this has thrown up some mind blowing data. Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi has some interesting notifications. He believes a recall would cost Apple $15 billion which is an unbelievable amount to be considered. He also adds that it is highly unlikely that Apple would go for a recall even though consumer reports have been prompt about removing it from its recommended list of products.
Not all are affected by this particular problem and a recall is only possible if there is a really serious problem accepted by Apple Iphone 4 unlocked handset. This has not happened so far. Hence, a total product recall is close to impossible with $15 billion at stake.
It may be assumed that the hardware issue in the phone that has been given a little momentum by the media hype surrounding it. That has obviously catapulted into this anomalous situation. Apple and Jobs have obviously not been at their best in managing this issue and it has really got out of hand. The media attention to that has worsened matters. It would be quite foolish of Apple to go for product recall considering it won’t affect their PR in a grand way and the media will soon shift to a new product fiasco soon enough. People will just have to wait to find out.
