iPhone 4 recall could cost Apple a whopping $15 billion according to Analyst:

The antenna and reception issue of Unlocked iPhone 4 has been haunting Apple since its introduction. The problem has been described to be widespread and there have been several enquiries about this. Needless to say that Apple is in a position where they have to assess the situation and look at a recall. It is indeed the best thing to do after many were left distraught after Steve Jobs’ series of terse e-mails to people making enquiries.

However, the damage that the company will incur as a result of this has thrown up some mind blowing data. Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi has some interesting notifications. He believes a recall would cost Apple $15 billion which is an unbelievable amount to be considered. He also adds that it is highly unlikely that Apple would go for a recall even though consumer reports have been prompt about removing it from its recommended list of products.

Not all are affected by this particular problem and a recall is only possible if there is a really serious problem accepted by Apple Iphone 4 unlocked handset. This has not happened so far. Hence, a total product recall is close to impossible with $15 billion at stake.

It may be assumed that the hardware issue in the phone that has been given a little momentum by the media hype surrounding it. That has obviously catapulted into this anomalous situation. Apple and Jobs have obviously not been at their best in managing this issue and it has really got out of hand. The media attention to that has worsened matters. It would be quite foolish of Apple to go for product recall considering it won’t affect their PR in a grand way and the media will soon shift to a new product fiasco soon enough. People will just have to wait to find out.

Mac is now to get 3G/4G Modem and 4G Router for Mac

Although there have, and will always be Unlocked HTC Pure Windows based hardware, Mac is now making a comeback as can be seen from the launching of the new 3G and 4G routers and modems by Clear. It is now a first that there have been such developments in the field of support for the Mac such as the 4G+ USB data stick that was recently made by Sierra Wireless. In fact, there have been numerous different data sticks made specifically for the Mac. Clear data cards make use of WiMax, and when such WiMax support is unavailable, the Clear card would automatically switch to the 3G or EVDO network.  If you do plan on purchasing this device, you will have to either shell out a premium of $115 for the entire device or pay a reasonable $6 per month should you want to rent it. Such renting is quite similar to the renting of a router from your local internet company.

To be able to work with Clear data cards, you will have to have a Mac OS X Leopard or higher and when choosing the routers, you have a choice of which to choose.  The first router available is the Spot 4G on Iphone 4 Unlocked Device  which will not work with any other network except Clear’s 4G range. Through this router, a maximum of eight users will be allowed, so all your friends and family can take part. Part from this, there is also the Spot 4G+ that allows a maximum of 5 users at a single time. Quite similar to Sprint’s 3G/4G network, it allows users the ability of switching to a 3G network in case the signal from Clear’s 4G is extremely weak or not available.

The Spot 4G is available at a premium of $100, whereas the Spot 4G+ is available at a premium of $225, which works out to $65 per month should you be on the go often
