Tetris on the Android

Although there are many different types of 3D games that have been made available for the Unlocked Motorola Milestone Android operating software, a recent influx of different games in 3D have come through. In spite of the fact that there are many types of 3D games that have been created, there are still many different types of simple games available that can create the same kind of entertainment that is provided by today’s more modern games. Recently, it has been stated on Google’s  Android  Phone website that Line Up is going to be released for users of their operating system. For those that do not know, Line Up is a very similar game to the 1980’s game- Tetris.

During the late 80’s and the early 90’s Tetris was ‘THE’ games as all across the world, children loved to play it. Now the very same game has been developed for the Android, albeit with many different modifications to it. The original game was built on strategy and quick thinking with game play requiring users to move their D-Pad in such a way as to fit the falling bricks in such a manner as to create horizontal lines that could then be cleared off the screen. With the latest release for the Google Nexus One Unlocked  Android Mobile Operating system, the principal remains the same, with a small twist. In order to twist or turn the pieces around, the mobile user has to shake the mobile phone either left or right. At the same time, moving the phone in an ecliptic motion can turn the Tetris pieces on the screens.

The overall goal of Line Up is to create horizontal rows of the same colored blocks. Once you manage to achieve 3 or more same colored bricks in a row, automatically the row disappears creating more space for the player. The larger the number of blocks arranged, the more the points earned.

Android 2.2 to include full support for Adobe Flash

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Andy Rubin the VP of Engineering at Google, finally put to rest all of the rumors that have been flying around the internet and confirmed that the upcoming Android 2.2 release known as “Froyo” will include support for Adobe Flash.  Flash for Android was first demonstrated back in November 2008 on the T-Mobile G1 and ever since the Android community has been waiting with bated breath for this feature to be included on their handheld devices.  While Rubin was more than willing to share information about the Adobe Flash feature he was less than willing to mention a launch date for Android 2.2.  This leaves Android fans still in the dark about when they will actually see this highly anticipated feature added to their devices. The latest guesstimates from industry gurus put the release of Android 2.2 on the market some time during the month of May.

One of the most highly anticipated features is finally set to come to Android phones.  Smartphone users have been wishing and waiting for the day when their mobile devices would include Adobe Flash so that they can enjoy streaming content on their mobile devices.  While Adobe has had their own reasons for not releasing their product to the masses over mobile devices it sounds as if they are have finally caved to the wants and desires of their customers and will be launching their product in the next Android release.

This newest feature that is set to hit the Android market is going to be one of the biggest in recent memory.  The addition of Adobe Flash to your mobile device is going to change the way we view content and interact with our Android powered smartphones.  I can not wait to see how well Flash players will work on these devices and just how popular they will become.

LG’s LU2300 will be able to compete with the big boys of Android

In one of the better rumors flying around the internet it appears there is a new smartphone from LG that has surfaced in Korea.  This new phone known exclusively by its model number LG LU2300 is just another Android phone to be released.  The Android 2.1 device is on par with Google’s Nexus One and HTC’s Desire.  The LG LU2300 comes equipped with a 1GHz processor, 3.5” WVGA AMOLED capacitive display, 5 megapixel camera, 720p DivX compatibility, DMB tuner and of course the ever popular GS, Wi-Fi and 3G combination.  With a set of features like this it is no wonder why people would put this device on par with the other Android power houses such as the Nexus One and Desire.

While it is unknown if this device will ever see a US release it is certain that this device would be able to compete with the other big players in the Android market space.  With comparable features the LU2300 would have no problem attracting buyers in the US market.  I highly doubt that many consumers would have a problem with another fantastic smartphone hitting the market from which they could choose.

It is a shame that this device is not currently being offered in the US.  From the sounds of it this phone appears to be a powerful Android device and has many of the characteristics that unlocked mobile device consumers are looking for.  Personally I would like to get my hands on one of these phones to test out the various functions along with the full QWERTY keyboard while checking out that impressive 1GHz processor that this device boasts.  Only time will tell if those of us in the US market will get to see this device up close and in person.

HTC CEO declares the Nexus One a success

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, continues to cause quite a commotion with his various antics and comments.  While speaking at CTIA on Wednesday Chou declared that the Nexus One was a complete success and will surly drive new business to HTC despite the shaky public reception it has received.  For those of you that might be unaware when the HTC was first released it was to a somewhat unsettling beginning.  Early customers reported 3G reception issues that damaged the views of various consumers.  Lagging sales numbers clearly put the Nexus One well behind the DROID in popularity as well.  Now these current issues surrounding the display have further damaged the phones reputation.

Chou also caused a stir with his reluctance to acknowledge any shortcomings with the phone.  Instead Chou decided to focus on the innovative design of the Nexus One and the experience HTC gained when developing the Android 2.1 device.  Chou mentioned that HTC is quickly trying to leverage that credit associated with creating one of the first Android 2.1 mobile devices into becoming the top Android brand. While many critics will disagree with Chou and his statements pointing to the fact that the DROID is a much more popular phone amongst consumers Chou may not be that far off in his assessment.
I do believe that Chou and HTC have a learned a great deal and gained valuable experience while releasing the Nexus One.  They will be able to utilize that experience and enhance any other phone that they may develop in the future.  By knowing what consumers are looking for and what sorts of aspects they want working correctly with their mobile devices HTC will be better equipped to produce quality products in the future.

Google In The News

Google has had its share of major announcements over the past couple days.  It has been reported that they have only sold 135,000 Nexus One units in the first 74 days that they have been available.  This is in comparison to the 1 million iPhone units, and 1.0 5 million Droid units that were sold within the same amount of time.  This may not concern the folks at Google as these numbers may not exactly show the whole picture.  There were huge advertising campaigns for the Droid, as well as the iPhone, and we all know that Google does not necessarily spend the same amount of money on the same type of advertising.  It is also assumed that their numbers will increase once they actually launch with Verizon wireless and Vodofone.

Google has also been involved over the past several weeks in negotiations pertaining to their presence in China.  They have been involved in negotiations mostly centering on the fact that Google does not want the Chinese government meddling in their users searching.  Google wants to be able to operate without having to experience any censorship.  It seems as though they may be at a crossroads where Google may have to decide whether they want to keep their 36% share of the market.  It will come down to whether or not they want to pursue their position on freedom of use of the Internet.

The other big news in Google world is that Facebook has surpassed them as one of the most visited sites on the entire Internet.  This may not concern the gurus at Google, as the last company that was able to do this was MySpace and look at where they are now.  However, some of these things may be something for Google to consider in order to maintain their number one position.
