Cell Phones and Crimes of Passion

Recently in the news there has been a lot of attention in the news regarding cell phones and crimes.  This not only entails criminal offenses but also persons with cell phones, whose data has been compromised.  Because smart phones have become such a large part of our lives we need to make sure that we have all the necessary security measures to afford us the protection that we need.

A woman supposedly stabbed her ex-husband because of what she saw on his cell phone call history.  Even though the news did not say, I would suspect that it had to do with perhaps other women that her ex was in contact with. Thankfully the wounds were not serious, however, he was treated and released at a local hospital.  I guess the victim did not hear about TigerText, the new application for the iPhone unlocked.  No it is not named after Tiger Woods, however, the timing of the release is certainly interesting.  The company says it is not named after the professional golfer, but it is named after a tiger that is very difficult to catch.  The application allows you to be able to delete text messages that are stored on your cell phone.  If Tiger or the victim of the stabbing had used in applications such as this, perhaps they would not be in the mess that they are currently in.

I guess it comes back to the old adage, if you do not want anyone to see it, make sure it is not available.  If Tiger had just thought for a moment that perhaps his wife would see or hear some of the messages stored on his phone he may not have gotten caught quite yet.  How many times have you heard about the wife checking the call logs to see what their husbands were actually up to?  It is a sad state of affairs that we stoop to such levels since many people are not able to have honest relationships.  I guess if you are involved in anything that you don’t want other people to know about, you should use a program like TigerText for your iPhone 3GS or some of the other programs out there in order to keep your call history and text messages away from curious eyes.
