Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness Review & Features

November 6th, 2009

Sony’s is launching a new phone, the Xperia Pureness, sometime this month.Ā  There has been a bit of buzz prior to the arrival on the market, in no small part due to press releases from the Swedish-Japanese arm of this industry giant.Ā  Minimalist in appearance and appealing to the fashion sensibilities of the consumer, it even has a nickname, Kiki.Ā  A predecessor in this line was named Rachael and it certainly brings to mind an android mindset.

Sony is promoting a new brand entitled make.believe under the Sony Ericsson label, a distinction made even clearer when a search on the basic Sony website yielded no results for the upcoming Pureness.Ā  Price tag is estimated in the $800 range, which seems quite steep for a cell phone promoted by its manufacture as ā€œbringing together ‘beautiful craftsmanship and the concept of talk, text, time – a holiday from technology.’ā€

It could look, at first glance, like a piece of electronic test equipment, with a unique clear display.Ā  This is intended to add to the appeal as technological advances move the cell phone into the must have item, even for those living in the lap of luxury.Ā  To quote again from the company Press Release, the Xperia Pureness ā€œapproaches the mobile phone as a work of art rather than technology …aimed to sculpt an object of design that reflected the purity of water and a sense of calmness when not in use.ā€

If you are any sort of techie at all, this product may catch your attention only briefly.Ā  There is no mention of G3 compatibility, however the design is different.Ā  ā€œKikiā€ comes with a transparent glass like display, on which the images are projected, viewable from both sides of the handset per some pre-release reviews.Ā  The keypad is smooth with numbers appear only when the phone is turned on.
If you are ready for futuristic lines, without futuristic functionality, this phone may be right for you.
