OnLive Demonstrates iPhone App
November 17th, 2009In the near distant future, it may be possible to play against PC gamers on your iPhone even when you are commuting. Now however, the idea is still at the drawing board process, but will no doubt produce a cry of excitement for iPhone lovers and gamers alike.
However, CEO Steve Perlman demonstrated OnLive running on two iPhones, a TV and a computer simultaneously, at a Wedbush financial conference in New York. A demonstration that could potentially become real and as a result redefine mobile gaming, as we know it.
While they may have only showed a demo, the audience was able to experience the OnLive application on an iPhone. Yet even though this latest application is proving to be an exciting introduction in the future, it is important to realise that a mobile phone is very different to that of a TV or computer. It is smaller and more compact and as a result, further development will be needed to smooth out the kinks, as well as establish approval from mobile phone makers before an initial date for launch is to be set.
However, while there is excitement about the possibilities with an OnLive iPhone application in one corner, there are also causes for concern in the other. One initial concern that seems to be at the forefront of peoples minds is the lack of controls on the iPhone and even though the touch screen may be suitable for some of the applications, it might not be as successful for the more complex games.
As a result for the OnLive application to become a new successful gaming tool, research and development will be needed before releasing a new application into the wild that could potentially end up nose diving.
