Control Your Benz With An iPhone or BlackBerry App

Now you can lock, unlock and locate your car with your unlocked iPhone and Blackberry apps. Thanks to mbrace, a software developed by Hughes Telematics. It is notable that mbrace is replacing Mercedes Benz’s 10-year-old Tele Aid System.
You can control the functions of your car with your unlocked iPhone 3GS or BlackBerry as Hughes Telematics has come up with an app mbrace that will allow you to do so. So whether stolen or forgotten, you can track your car and lock/unlock it. Though the service is not free forever, as still you get it free of charge for first six months, and then pay $ 280 per year.
If you have forgotten where you parked your Mercedes Benz, then your phone will be able to help now. You can unlock your car from great distances as the signals are sent to the servers, which are then sent to the car. It adds weather, route, and traffic navigation as well. It will help you contact emergency services too. This development is a proof that carmakers are connecting to car owner’s smartphones.
Your iPhone and BlackBerry will not only locate the car, in fact it will also show you the directions. The service is currently available only on certain Benz models, but older models too can be fitted with it too.
You can also plan your route through Google Maps and send it directly to your car. Mercedes’ this move is being termed as very innovative and a step toward shifting more control to the owner’s smartphone. BlackBerry and iPhone
New features will be integrated in future as both Mercedes and Hughes would work on it further to take it to a higher level.
