A report that was recently published by the Convergence Consulting Group stated that they believe that the bundling of popular services (such as Internet, unlocked cell phones and even television) could be the wave of the future, and they believe that new entrants could be able to garner as much as 14% of the market share in the next three years.
The entrants that they are mainly referring to are likely WIND, Mobilcity and Public, who have taken the Canadian landscape by storm and have taken large number of subscribers from the other three main carriers in Bell, TELUS and Rogers. The new entrants into the industry have been able to offer much lower prices than the other companies, and the fact that they are bundling their features together in cheaply priced plans has won many customers over.
Some of the most recent changes include lower data plans, cheap data plan add [...]

Rogers was ordered by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications commission to repay over $275,000 worth of prepaid minutes to their customers following a number of unconsented calls that they made to their users that ran their minutes down. Each user only lost a few minutes a piece, but the overall effect was quite large for the company.
Rogers reportedly called a number of prepaid unlocked mobile phone clients without their consent. They were using a number of automated calling devices to do so and told customers that they would credit their accounts and not interrupt their service again. While this was played off as a voluntary act by Rogers, the order was likely going to come down sooner rather than later from the CRTC, who was likely going to order them to pay in the same way that they ordered Bell to give back $1.3 million after using “unauthorized telemarketing practices.”

The competition between plan prices for unlocked cell phones in Canada has been well documented. All of the big carriers int he country are continually discounting their plans and providing more features for the same price in an attempt to gain an upper hand over others in their market. Rogers has discounted their plans several times throughout the process, and recently announced that they were going to be discounting their already discounted plans even further.
One of their most popular plans was their $60 per month plan. Now, they are offering the plan for just $55, a $5 discount over what they offered before. The promotion will not be long term, however, and will only continue through March 31st.
Other carriers offered limited time promotions as well, before eventually making them part of their regular plan lineup. Although there is no indication that rogers plans to make their $60 plan $55 from [...]

The Consumer Electronics Show of 2011 was one that confirmed that the unlocked Samsung Nexus S Google will be making its way to Canada. At the time, it was not clear what providers the phone would be coming to, but the Samsung electronic Canada Vice President Paul Brennan was very straight forward when he said that the device would be making its way to Canada as well.
It will be carried on a number of different Canadian providers including Bell, Rogers, Mobilicity and Wind as well as others. They have stated that the version that is being released will give users the “full Google experience” and will build on what has come to be expected of the device in the States.
The confirmation that the phone is coming to so many different carriers was met by praise by most users. The Samsung Nexus S Google unlocked has been highly successful in the [...]

As per one of the leading Unlocked Cell Phone Blog Site, Rogers has continually cut prices over the course of the last year, but it appears that they may have slashed prices too far, and are now rising prices for 411 Directory Assistance Calls. Previously, Rogers and Fido had raised their prices for text messaging, but this is the first time that either company has adjusted their prices for directory assistance calls.
Now, any directory assistance call will cost $2.50 per call, with airtime and taxes on top of that as well. The previous rate for these calls was $2.00, and this is a $.50 per call price hike. This is not good news for those that continually use the service, but should not greatly affect a large portion of those that continually use the service. If you frequently use the 411 directory assistance offered by Rogers and Fido, then you [...]

As per the one of the leading unlocked cell phone blog site, with all of the competition that has been centered around new monthly plans from all of the carriers, it is no surprise to see that Rogers is looking to extend the time they spend promoting their new plans. They continually are dropping the prices of their plans while adding value to them that the customers will appreciate. A recent promotional plan by Rogers that was supposed to give early weekends and night time minute usage to their users was set to end on the sixth of January. Today, the company announced that they would be extending the length of their promotion indefinitely to keep up with current demands.
In response to the move by Rogers, Fido also expanded their promotion plans to keep up with the competitive demand precedent that has been put into place by Rogers. All competing [...]

Last Friday Rogers announced that they had come to a huge agreement with the Government in Canada that is worth a total of $117 million. At the time, it looked as though Rogers had put themselves at a competitive advantage in signing the contract. None of the other large Canadian companies had made any announcement about similar deals and it looked as though Rogers had secured it for themselves.
Today, we learn that the situation was drastically different than was originally though. TELUS announced today that they had also reached a 4 year agreement with the government that is worth more than $45 million in total. Bell made a similar announcement today, saying that they had reached a deal that was worth $33.86 million overall.
Although neither company’s deal was as large as the $117 million deal that Rogers reached with the Government of Canada Public Works, it does show that the [...]

Rogers, one of the most popular Canadian service providers announced today that they would be changing their plans amid a lot of competitive pressure from competing companies. The changes will be to the benefit of their users, and will start their “evenings” at 6 PM and will also give their users free weekend. All of this is available with a three year agreement plan. Along with the upgrades and changes to their plans, they will also be offering a number of the most popular smart devices at a discounted rate.
This is good news for anyone that was considering signing on with Rogers in the near future. One of the best deals that they are offering is the unlocked Samsung galaxy Tab which is now only $499.99 when you sign up for a three year plan, along with the Samsung i897 Captivate, which is down from $149.99 to $99.99 along with a [...]

Rogers Mobile announced two new data share plans today that will become available to their current subscribers. These types of plans have been rumored to have been coming to a number of different mobile providers in recent months, but Rogers becomes one of the first companies to make the move official.
They will be offering their data share options in two different plans. The first plan will cost a total of $15 per month and will not require that you sign an extended contract agreement in order to use it. The second will cost $20, but will require that you sign an additional three year agreement with Rogers.
Both of the plans that they announced today will offer unlimited social networking with either plan, and along with those features you will also be able to share between 1 GB and 5 GB with other devices that you own.
Both plans are similar, but [...]
