Canadians to Enjoy the Benefits of Amazon’s Kindle

December 5th, 2009

Amazon recently announced its decision to make Kindle available to residents of Canada. That digital book reader can hold up to 1,500 different book titles. Amazon has responded the voices of Canadians, Canadians that were eager to get reading during the long winter nights.

Jay Marine, director of product management for Kindle, has said that Amazon did its best to get their bestselling product ready for its Canadian unveiling as soon as possible. Amazon realizes that Canadians want to do more than just read the books on Kindle. They also hope to download newspapers, blogs, and magazines.

amazon_logoAccording to Marine, Canadians will now have access to “a library” within an interval of just “60 seconds.” Moreover, they can make use of the information in that library from any corner of the world.

Amazon’s decision means an expansion to the number of newspapers available on Kindle. Now all Canadian residents can access each of Canwest’s major newspapers by using Kindle. At the same time, those Canadians can read articles from Le Monde, the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, and the Washington Post, in addition to many other well-known papers.

Amazon has not said what Kindle will cost in Canadian dollars, but it has declared that its new product will sell for $259 U.S. on the Amazon website. According to Amazon, any Canadian who buys a Kindle can then read that for two weeks, if he or she is not depending on wireless technology. The Canadian who chooses to read his or her Kindle with wireless turned on should expect to have four days of reading pleasure.

Of course, right now, any Canadian who decides to read a Kindle with or without the wireless adaptation had better have a good reading light. The amount of daylight hitting Canada decreases each day until December 21st, and then increases slowly, over a six month period.
