iPad 2 Orders will Ship Within One Day

August 3rd, 2011

For the first time since the launch of the device, iPad two orders will be shipping on the same day as the order. As of right now, it is clear that the company is looking to cut down on the number of tablets that they have in their backstop with the release of the iPad three on the horizon. They have finally been able to catch up to demand for the first time since the device was released in announced today that iPad two orders will be shipped out within 24 hours of receiving the order. The new fulfillment time shows that they are working hard to get the iPad three on the market and as a result are embarking on new advertising campaigns for the iPad two, which they also announced today will be discontinued with the release of the iPad three.

iPad 2 Orders will Ship Within One Day

The company has announced that they are looking to get rid of the excess inventory that they have stocked up at their Apple iPad retail stores. It is clear that the company is looking to make changes to the way that they are operating, and I collected to bring in a large number of previous employees to help them deal with the upcoming releases of the iPhone 5 and eventually the Apple iPad three, which is expected to be released before the holiday season.

iPad 2 Orders will Ship Within One DayIf you’re interested in purchasing the iPad two, the time is now. Never before have never been able to order and have the orders ship within 24 hours of Apple receiving it. This is definitely something that has not been available for, and will make for an interesting end of the year for Apple, a company that has posted record profit for each of the last few quarters. They have made it clear that they are looking to change their ways and instead of releasing a remodeled device once per year, may start to do it more often in an effort to keep up with the popular Android releases.

July 18th, 2011

Nokia to Launch $130 M Windows Phone CampaignIt is no secret that Microsoft and Nokia have been working together for quite some time to bring Windows Phone 7 to the forefront. Both companies are relying heavily on the fact that Windows Phone 7 will become a very popular option moving into the future. Microsoft is hoping that they can one day compete with Android and Apple’s IOS operating system phone such as unlocked iphone 4, but so far have not enough companies supporting their effort. That does not seem to be the case with Nokia. It was recently announced that Nokia is about to launch a $130 million ad campaign for the Windows Phone 7 operating system. Of course, they will also be promoting their own phones throughout these ads.

It will be interesting to see how well they are able to put together a campaign that makes sense. They have been relying heavily on the taking off of the platform for quite some time and you can expect that they will continue to do so moving forward. Nokia is relying very heavily on the success of the Windows Phone 7 operating system, and they would not be able to continue without trying to up the amount of users that the platform has.

Nokia to Launch $130 M Windows Phone Campaign

It will be interesting to see how they use the hundred and $30 million to promote the system. One of the things that are looking to do is to increase the overall number of people who use the platform. TELUS Changing 411 Pricing

June 17th, 2011

TELUS Changing 411 PricingTELUS will be upping the prices of their 411 Directory Assistance service for unlocked cell phone users such as Samsung Galaxy S, as well as their pay per use rates for texting on August 10th of this year. This is a bit odd considering the company drastically dropped their international roaming rates just earlier in the week, and now it looks like they will be making up for it in other ways with their 411 Directory Assistance pricing as well as the pricing of their text.

To start, the price of their directory assistance service will be going up from $2.00 all the way up to $2.50, which is seen as a huge increase for a service that is quite popular. As of right now, their pay per text service is costing users a total of $0.15 per message, and that will be going up five cents as well. The new changes will not go into effect until August 10th, so users have quite a bit of time to adapt their habits to the change.

TELUS Changing 411 Pricing

They have not even placed this information on their website as of yet, and the company has said that they are going to be notifying their user base on their wireless bill at the end of this next month.  At the very least, it will be interesting to see if the users are alright with this kind of price hike. It seems as if the company is dropping their prices in some areas, but is continuing to up it in others.

TELUS Changing 411 Pricing

Hopefully these price hikes, for the sake of their users, do not reflect a company wide change in pricing policy moving forward at this time. TELUS has drastically cut their prices from the level they were at just a year ago and you can expect their prices to continue to change with the ebb and flow of the mobile industry such as (unlocked Motorola Atrix) we have seen over the course of the last few days.

WIND Offers Users a Free Data Stick

June 14th, 2011

WIND Mobile

WIND has been giving away free prizes all weekend long, but their newest prize is probably one that customers will be really excited about. They have a number of promos that they have been providing to existing customers including a new data stick. This is a stick that can hold quite a bit of data, which should make this giveaway interesting to a large number of their users.

In order to get in on the deal you have to have already purchased a unlocked cell phone along with a data stick that comes with the monthly fee of $25. You can then activate the stick for the $29 per month, which is obviously one of their packages that the company is looking to push. This will allow for their users to save as much as $80 in all. This will be available at all of their locations across the country.

The company made their announcement over Facebook, where they detailed who was active for the brand new free data sticks. First, you have to be able to receive a qualifying plan that the company provides. Then, you activate a new laptop plan before receiving your new data stick.

This is an offer that applied mostly to new customers, but the company also put together some plans that would allow for other existing users to get a data stick of their own as well. This is one of a number of offers that WIND has debuted in recent days, and you can bet that they will continue to offer similar plans in the future moving forward as well. With their legal difficulties behind them for the most part, you can bet that they are going to continue to push their brand throughout the country and offering free items such as this is a good way to do it.

WIND Mobile Gives $100,000 to Charity

March 23rd, 2011

WIND Mobile has given more than $100,000 to a variety of different Canadian Charities. Their most recent “Best Conversations Ever” campaign has allowed the company to distribute funds to a variety of different charities within the country, helping out a variety of different causes. One of their largest donations went to Engineers Without Borders Canada, which was able to secure more than $50,000 in funding from the company.

All of the donations are going to great causes and the company may be looking to give more money to causes in the future. Their “Best Conversation Ever” contest, when announced, was set to give away more than $600,000 to various charities.

They are also offering 5 Canadian citizens the chance to talk with anyone in the world that they would like to speak with. In order to enter the contest, you have to write a story about who you would like to speak with in a phone conversation and detail why you would like to talk to that individual. Each of these individuals will be able to donate more than $100,000 to the charity of their choice. The company also announced that they would be donating an additional $100,000 on their own accord to a charity or charities that were chosen by the company.

It certainly is an interesting contest that has put a lot of money toward great charities. The idea of being able to talk to whoever you want if you are chosen for the contest is certainly an interesting concept. Obviously they will not be able to hook up a conversation with just anyone – it might be hard to get a hold of Barack Obama and other high profile individuals but nearly anyone should be on the radar for the company.

Videotron Thriving

March 10th, 2011

In September of 2010, Videotron released their brand new 3G+ network. At the time, most members of the media joked about he organization. They had said that most thought that the idea was good, but that it was not realistic. At the time, the company had said that the new videotron was going to help customers to choose which unlocked cell phone was best for them. It looks as though their technology has worked out, because they have been responsible for signing up more than 55,800 customers to date.

They have also gone on to create more than 136,100 connections to their Mobile service. Some of the mobile service connections were from their old network, which some of the customers have decided to stick with. Some of these uses were from members of the new network. Either way, a recent press release has shown that the company has more than 90,000 subscribers that have shown up in the last year or so. Included in those new users are more than 55,000 new connections, as well as more than 36,000 new mitigation’s.

The technology was a bit controversial when it was first released, but it appears that it has been embraced by the users and will continue to be a force in the mobile market. Look for the video tron to become increasingly common as a tool to help people device which mobile phone is for them. It is essentially a salesman that does not have to be paid anything and can slowly be optimized as they gather data over time. Of course, this is not good information for individuals that are working with the cellular providers at this time, but does provide us with a good example of exactly what technology in this day and age is capable of. Videotron has surpassed the expectations of both experts and users and has grown into a very popular technology.

Another RIM Leaked Roadmap Hits Net

March 8th, 2011

Research in Motion has had several of their roadmaps hit the new in recent months, and the most recent roadmap leak might be the most  detailed leak yet. They have already released a lot of information about their GSM and CDMA smart phones that are upcoming, but the roadmap provides details about release dates that were not available as of yet.

The road map outlines their software releases while previous leaks had more to do with the hardware. The biggest release from the leaked road map is the unlocked BlackBerry OS 7 leak. The road map shows that the company is preparing to integrate the new operating system sometime in November.

Of course, the road map does not state whether or not the new operating system will be made available for all devices by that time, but does show that the second half of the year will be mostly dedicated to the release of the new operating system.

The road map also shows that there are two BIS updates on the horizon as well. One will be coming within the next two months, and another will be coming sometime toward the end of summer. Also included in the road map are a number of apps, both App World updates and retail applications that users can look forward to later in the year.

Leaks of these road maps are a huge deal for Research In Motion, a company that has taken pride in the fact that they are able to keep their future plans within the company. Over the course of the last few months users have learned of their plans for the entire next year. Of course, there is no guarantee that plans will not change or that these are even the most updated road maps that have been made available to employees. They do give a good idea of what users can expect sometime in the future though.

Samsung Google Nexus S Review

March 3rd, 2011

The unlocked Samsung Google Nexus S is an Android device in world that is seemingly overpopulated with great Android devices. The Galaxy S line features a number of very similar phones, which can make it hard to review the Nexus S compared to the others. However, the Nexus S is a device that is very solid and provides many features that have long been looked for by users.

The Nexus S has a 1 GHz Hummingbird CPU along with 512 MB of Ram with a 4 inch screen that features a 800 x 480 Super AMOLED display, which looks absolutely amazing in person. Along with the great display, the Nexus S also boasts 16 GB of storage and a five megapixel rear facing camera, along with a VGA front facing camera.

The hardware, however, is not the complete story when it comes to the Samsung Google Nexus S. The device runs on the popular Gingerbread version of Android, version 2.3. The update will allow users a number of different improvements including multitasking and the ability to video chat with friends using the VGA front facing camera.

The look of the camera is great, feels great in the hand and fits very comfortably in the pocket. It is easily one of the best in the S line, and is the best Nexus device that has been released thus far. It does not weigh all that much which makes it very portable, and the CPU is more than strong enough to handle all of the great software that comes with the Gingerbread version of Android.

The Samsung Google Nexus S also is great when it comes to quality of sound. Voiceson the other end sound clear, crisp and are loud enough to easily hear. The Samsung Google Nexus S unlocked is a device that is top of the line when compared to other devices that have been released in the same line, and is a solid offering from both companies.

Research In Motion Announces Gifting Features

February 16th, 2011

Research In Motion recently announced a new service for their BlackBerry Messenger messaging platform. They have called it the BBM mobile gifting platform. The new features will allow for users to give gifts to other users of unlocked BlackBerry devices. There are a number of things that you can use the new gifting features for including sending pre paid gifts of airtime, applications, and other services that are currently being offered to friends and family.

The new gifting features will also allow for carrier billing, which will place the charges on the monthly subscribers wireless account instead of serving as a completely additional charge. As an example, imagine it is Christmas day, and a child has been asking his parents to pay for a slightly expensive app on his phone. The parents could then gift him the app on Christmas day. He would receive a BBM notification which would send the child a request. The child could then either choose to, or not to, fulfill the request for the gift.

So far, Research in Motion has yet to announce any carrier partners that will be taking part in the program. This is an exciting feature that has long been discussed in the mobile community, but has never really come to fruition on a platform before this. The idea of gifting application to friends and family is certainly something that would benefit all carriers and manufacturers during the holiday season, when everyone is in the giving spirit and will want to share their favorite apps with all of their friends. It will be interesting to see if other service providers and manufacturing companies look to implement similar features in their app marketplaces as well. Gifting is something that has been introduced in multiple platforms online, but has yet to really make its way to the mobile industry in a big way – but is expected to following this announcement by Research in Motion.
