Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus to be Released

January 9th, 2012

By: John Castell

Is anyone else starting to get the many variations of Samsung Galaxy cell phone lineup mixed up? Clearly banking on the strong brand name, Samsung  is preening over its revamped Galaxy Ace, the oh so originally named Galaxy Ace Plus. As stated by JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics in the latest addition’s press release, “In 2012, we will continue to make every effort to create an easy and fun mobile experience by expanding our incredibly popular GALAXY smartphone line of business, which is now one of the most recognized and successful mobile brands in the world.” This is a remarkably true statement when considering the success of the Android’s flagship smartphone…  we are also hoping that perhaps 2012 will see similar success with Samsung Galaxy tablet releases.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus to be ReleasedThe Galaxy Ace plus is touted to be a more budget friendly mobile device, it does not appear to be a tech junkie’s preferred handset. Using last year’s minimum specs – 1GHz processor, 5 MP camera, and 3GB memory.   Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus to be ReleasedDespite Android’s release of its latest OS – Ice Cream Sandwich, this Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone still has the tried and true combo of Gingerbread OS and TouchWiz.  Moreover Samsung is marketing the Galaxy ace Plus to trendy young professional who are chomping at the bit for ICS.    Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest innovative protection solutions… stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Something else to consider is that despite the increased screen size the resolution is actually worsened as the pixel density is decreased. This less than revolutionary device will be made available in Russia starting this month. After that launch, the newest Galaxy handset will be roll out to Europe, CIS, Latin America, Southeast and Southwest Asia, the Middle East, Africa and China. Whether this new addition will be made available in these markets as an unlocked device is unknown at the moment or when it will be brought to North American shores.

iOS – Crowned Market King

January 9th, 2012

By Aldo Panessidi

As more and more reports come out highlighting the changes in mobile user behavior, the fast shift from feature phones to smartphones is also seeing a rapid uptick in the use of these handsets for web browsing. So in this smartphone world, who is browsing the mobile web the most? Based on the latest statistics from NetMarket Share, iPhone and iPad tablet consumers are still at the top of the pack.

Tablet Operating System Market Share

Source: NetMarketShare

These December numbers indicate that iOS users have a whopping 52% share of mobile web browsing. This is a decrease from its all time high of 61.5% in October, but still a masterful showing for the year’s end. Apple’s most persistent mobile OS competitor, Google Android, came in third place with 16.2%. This is behind the lesser known Java ME who captured 21.27% of this pie. No surprise, Symbian, BlackBerry and “Other” (Windows Phone perhaps?) trailed in the single digits. Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky! Discover the latest innovative protection solutions… stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

iOS - Crowned Market King With the immense popularity and strength of Apple’s iPad tablet, the data may overly weighted in the favor of iOS. Still, with the exclusion of the market-defining tablet in this comparison (and the iPod Touch), the iPhone is still numero uno with 25.24% share of the mobile browsing pie.

The importance of these trends is that it does point to consumer preferences for their mobile devices. Smartphones, tablets, media devices all have the web browsing capability. And, with the very sticky nature of iTunes and the App store in winning over customers – in particular, those users integrating the iOS products into their life and investing in the high tech accessories that accompany them), it is no wonder that they continue to grow and compete with the “open” Google Android platform devices. Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool! Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

All of this information seems to be contradictory to Android’s consistent market gains across the world; however this is not surprising considering the number of manufacturers and unlocked phones made available on the Google OS platform. Nonetheless, as in any survey, the data could be skewed, so the greater litmus test of market power will have to be based on actual sales numbers.

Speedracer Meets Mobile Web Browsing Testing.

January 9th, 2012

By Megan Fleet

On a personal note, my mother is a literature junkie. So, it is no surprise that on their cross country jaunts to visit over the holidays she loads up her smartphone with audio book downloads before hitting the road. As we discussed my newest iPad 2 tablet acquisition and simultaneously recounted the wonderful rendition of Austenland, she insisted I download the audio book app and log in under her name to download it. Just a few short minutes later, the file was available. Her response was “wow. I am seriously impressed at how fast you were able to download and store it without needing additional memory storage cards.”

Speedracer Meets Mobile Web Browsing Testing.

And, in this world of instant gratification, speed is king. Especially on our mobile browsers. So which smartphone manufacturer has the need for speed? This is an excellent question considering the varying strengths of these smartphone players. Android is the bees knees in the LTE support category. iOS has the top of the line dual-core A5 chip to tout its excellence. And, Windows Phone has the IE mobile browser that kicks it into beast mode.

This question may already be answered YouTube video posted below – which compares the Lumia 800, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 (running on the iOS version 4.3).  Put through a gauntlet of Browsermark, Speed Reading, Sunspider, Acid 3, and HTML5 tests… you will be surprised to find which device was the hands down winner.   Experience the mind blowing clarity of XMI Speakers.  Uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today’s interactive lifestyle.   Our earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

It was no contest…the iPhone 4S was beyond the best performance. This is really no surprise when considering what is powering these phones. Nokia’s Lumia 800 has a single core processor which could not keep up with iPhone 4S’s dual core A5 chip. Great news for media junkies and browsers alike… as well as for book lovers like myself, worthy of buying a new pair of headphones for some superior lit listening.  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

There were, however, a few instances where Window’s Phone 7’s mobile browser overpowered the Safari browser on the iPhone 4’s iOS 4.3. That matchup is a bit questionable when taking into account the older version of iOS that the device was running. The question of carrier grade 3G or 4G speeds and availability may affect this as well. This is another great point for unlocked cell phones which empower customer to break free from service provider long term contracts and negotiate a service plan that better meets their unique lifestyle needs at lower costs.

As in any kind of real world testing, the results are not are controlled or predictable, but it can still be said that Apple produces a great smartphone that appeals to the mobile browser speed fiends out there.

To power up the tablet and to feature all these features and functions on the tablet, Acer has thrown in a 9,800 mAh battery in the tablet. The company promises 10 hours of battery backup on the tablet on one complete charge. With all these features you would think the tablet will be pretty fat and bulky. Nokia bids Farewell to Symbian!

The Finnish mobile device manufacturer, Nokia, has not found much success moving from their popular feature phones to the smartphone market. Nokia cell phone’s Symbian OS platform has proven to be no match for Android or iOS.  So, in a move that clearly shows their intention to abandon ship, Nokia is dropping the platform and renaming its latest phone Nokia Belle. This effort to catch up with its contemporaries on the technology level adds some zing to the 2012 speculation. Will the adoption of a new platform include the release of a powerful, competitive tablet?

Google Pumps the Brakes on ICS update for Nexus S

Buzz around  the Android 4.0 (ICS) upgrade has brought the anticipation level to high pitch for Samsung Nexus S users around the world. The roll out of the update began a few days ago but has been unexpectedly paused in a multitude of regions. The Google Community Manager, Paul Wilcox, let the masses know in a forum post that the update release for those regions were stopped for the moment as they needed to have feedback monitored. These customers may need to indulge in new mobile  accessories to fill the gap as they wait for their update.  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool! Pricing for LTE speculated to significantly drop by 2016
New technology is always more expensive. In return, customers get to be a part of the elite club of users, show off their new toys to contemporaries, and bask in the light of innovation. And then, as it becomes more cost effective to manufacture and sell, the prices drop and the technology is made more widely available to the masses. This is the projected case for the 4G LTE networks. Industry leaders indicate that the monthly price for the zippy fast networks should drop approximately 60% by 2016. At the moment 4G LTE handsets are more costly than their 3G counterparts and the pricing structure for 4G data plans through carriers is so expensive that those users inclined to ditch their cable for the 4G will be waiting for the prices to decline even more. In the interim, customers are better served to invest their money in extra desktop chargers or top of the line Bluetooth headsets as well earpieces and headphones.

iPhone 5 – At Last!?

January 3rd, 2012

By Aldo Panessidi

Investors, speculators and rubberneckers alike are already speculating about Apple’s future after the recent loss of Steve Jobs. Will lines still abound upon the release of new products? Will there be the innovation? Will there be the continued customer loyalty?  Will there be mobile accessories designed to protect, personalize and enhance devices.

Well, as the iPhone 4S was released in lieu of the mythical iPhone 5, customers may have been slightly let down in 2011. However, resources indicate the next generation of iPhones will be released in 2012. Will that include shiny new Apple accessories? That may remain to be seen at the upcoming mobile technology conference in February 2012.  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  The latest innovative protection solutions such as stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name cases and skins protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Luckily for Apple, the release of accompanying accessories can wait until next fall when v5 of the revolutionary smartphone is slated to be released (likely to fall in line approximately one year after the iPhone Siri release with the 4S).  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool! Discover select accessories, such as stylus & pens, SD Micro memory cards, batteries, speakers and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

So what details of this up and coming device are churning around the rumor mill? Sounds like Apple is intending to use a plastic or rubber material (much like the materials used in the bumper case accessories currently sold independently of the mobile devices). This design falls in line with previous iPhone versions (mainly the 3GS) which had a bezel that surrounds the edges.  Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with their collection of desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

This serves two purposes – joining the glass of the iPhone front to the aluminum back plate (no need for the above antenna large plastic inserts on some Apple “I” products).

At the moment, some sources report that the next generation iPhone will rock an aluminum case (comparable to that found on the iPad 2). This newest devices should also include a larger display of approximately four inches. This is in line with the latest smartphone trends towards bigger and better screen displays. Thankfully for those of us who use our technology to feed into larger screens, there are HDMI and other cables available to use smartphones and media devices to stream a plethora of media.

Keep posted as 2012 brings more details on Apple’s new leadership and upcoming products!

Apple Jailbreak Released

January 3rd, 2012

By Adhurim Murtezai

January 3, 2012

There are those consumers who play by the rules and the status que. Then you have consumers who want enhance their current technology at any means and with total disregard to the rules. From unlocked cell phones to untethered jailbreaks, these tech savvy rebels will constantly push the envelope and expand the edge of innovation.

Apple Jailbreak ReleasedSo, the technological consequences of this week’s announcement by iPhone DevTeam still remain to be seen on the mobile tech scene.  The team has finally released an updated version of a jailbreak tool (Redsn0) which will allow iPad3, iPod Touch 4G, and iPhone 4 the to jailbreak their devices without requiring the user to re-enable the tool each time the device is rebooted. Alas, the iPhone 4Sand iPad 2, are not yet compatible with this tool which is typical with the latest and greatest technology releases . But, all news points to the jailbreak tool being applicable to a number of the manufacturer’s media players, tablets and smartphone devices.  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  The latest stylish top  brand bags, sleeves and cases innovative protection solutions allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Apple Jailbreak ReleasedAlso typical to jailbreak tools, there are some things to keep in mind. First, users need to have a compatible base band if they prefer to unlock the device with the ultrasn0w tool. Next, they must save the SHSH blobs if there is the possibility the user may want to downgrade again to version 5.0.1 when updates are released.   Discover the foremost online source for brand name data cables and mciro SD Memory Cards with the advanced designed engineered to work with the latest wireless and mobile devices.  This  Data Cable and Memory Card Collection combines style, quality, performance and value while giving you the ultimate in cable technology.

There are indications that the iPhone Dev Team is diligently working to expand the un-tethered jailbreak tool to Apple’s latest tablet and smartphone releases. And, as this writer is not as technical as these “researchers,” she does wonder if any of these tools affect the iHome and other accessories or will result in greater carrier neutrality for customers as an “unlocked” device.

LG Fantasy – Fact or Fiction?

January 3rd, 2012

By Megan Fleet

January 3, 2012

LG Fantasy - Fact or Fiction? There are those moments where no news is good news. This is generally not the case in the technology world; in particular within mobile technology market space… which is constantly evolving, improving, and innovating to keep pace with a tech savvy and tech hungry consumer base.  A market base growing at an exponential rate as unlocked cell phones becomes more and more available to consumers in India, Africa and China. Thankfully the advent of tablets and a plethora of mobile accessories such as cases, skins,  screen protectors, desktop chargers as well as  Bluetooth Headsets keep our little hands busy while awaiting the latest smartphone relases.

With that in mind, the jury is still out on the lack of an LG Windows Phone release in the United States in 2011…. the last LG Windows Phone seen state side was the Quantum back in 2010. This handset wasn’t widely popular, perhaps because it was not available as an unlocked smartphone, instead it was tied to a carrier exclusive contract with AT&T.  Discover a massive selection of  SD Micro Memory cards.  Extend your mobile device memory to hold a huge inventory of images, songs and documents.

Trickles of a new release for the Windows OS are tickling the imaginations of the mobile world with a device going by the moniker LG Fantasy. As with any gossip mill, speculated details are flying with scant solid evidence or manufacturer announcements to give credence and weight to the words.   Discover  XMI Speakers; uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today’s interactive lifestyle.   In addition,  earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

LG Fantasy - Fact or Fiction? The most likely sounding is that is has a four inch IPS display and this holds more veracity thanks to the leaked image of the smartphone. This image is indeed blurry (as can be seen in the picture above), but it is pretty evident that the handset has either a 5 megapixel or 8 megapixel camera. This seemingly harmless detail gives more heft to the talk that the Fantasy will join the ranks of Windows phones because this megapixel screen is what current Windows Phone users have with the 7.5 OS (aka Mango).

What is markedly less clear is whether this particular device will see the light of American soil for its debut, but it is likely that a launch will occur sometime in 2012. LG is smart to keep up guessing and ramping up the free PR to fill the void between its Windows Phone releases, but will be sure to keep the juiciest details for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in February.  Checkout the latest in mobile device accessories.

Acer Continues to Tackle Tablet Market

January 3rd, 2012

By Megan Fleet

January 3, 2011

Acer has long been a key player in the computer world. Their strong showing in the personal computer market space should have indicated a propensity to do well in the tablet market (here is an interesting inforgraphic on Tablet Takeover) the as another “endpoint segment.” So far that is not the case.

Acer Continues to Tackle Tablet Market

2011 saw disappointing sales for the  Acer Iconia Tablet, but they are determined to persevere with tablet releases in 2012. Despite this continuation, there are rumors that Acer may be slowing its tablet production in the upcoming year. Acer’s founder, Stan Shih, did state that they are not following trend s of the rumor mill and the company is not ready to give up on tablets. Also, they will be continuing with their smartphone production and have no projects on the chopping block at the moment in contradiction of recent reports.

Will Acer turn to innovative mobile accessories, such as protective bags, sleeves and cases to boost customer loyalty and sales in an increasingly competitive market? The New Year will bring news of this. The manufacturer may take the route of increasing its user base with unlocked cell phones. Or it may attempt to corner markets with signing exclusivity contracts with carriers. This writer’s take is that the smartphone and tablet manufacturer will be better suited to winning over the hearts and minds of the consumer market than riding the coattails of cellular carriers that are easily and frequently vilified by governments and consumers alike.

The founder made sure to note in his statement to DigiTimes that his Taiwan based company was slow to get its start in the notebook market as well. Taking the slow and steady method, Acer did become one of the world’s most recognizable and top PC vendors. Certainly not a competitor to take out of the race precipitously.

HoHoHo! Blackberry’s Merry… Sorry?Another strategy the flailing Canadian company could take is pursuing the unlocked cell phone market to win over the more discerning customer pool, but with new devices released (and depending on the country they are being released in) there is no saying how that will play out in the coming months for the North American crowd.

All in all, we cannot make commentary on the success of the free apps as it will not end until 2012 is already upon us, but RIM is sure to stay on our radar for what it brings to the table in the coming year (whether it be good, bad or ugly!).
