Android 2.2 to include full support for Adobe Flash
May 3rd, 2010In a recent interview with the New York Times, Andy Rubin the VP of Engineering at Google, finally put to rest all of the rumors that have been flying around the internet and confirmed that the upcoming Android 2.2 release known as “Froyo” will include support for Adobe Flash. Flash for Android was first demonstrated back in November 2008 on the T-Mobile G1 and ever since the Android community has been waiting with bated breath for this feature to be included on their handheld devices. While Rubin was more than willing to share information about the Adobe Flash feature he was less than willing to mention a launch date for Android 2.2. This leaves Android fans still in the dark about when they will actually see this highly anticipated feature added to their devices. The latest guesstimates from industry gurus put the release of Android 2.2 on the market some time during the month of May.
One of the most highly anticipated features is finally set to come to Android phones. Smartphone users have been wishing and waiting for the day when their mobile devices would include Adobe Flash so that they can enjoy streaming content on their mobile devices. While Adobe has had their own reasons for not releasing their product to the masses over mobile devices it sounds as if they are have finally caved to the wants and desires of their customers and will be launching their product in the next Android release.
This newest feature that is set to hit the Android market is going to be one of the biggest in recent memory. The addition of Adobe Flash to your mobile device is going to change the way we view content and interact with our Android powered smartphones. I can not wait to see how well Flash players will work on these devices and just how popular they will become.
