Serious kudos to Symbian for not slinking off to die in a corner after Nokia made its bold move to work with Microsoft and paired up to bring Nokia WPs to the world and to win back some market share in North America. Besides its following in India and die-hard Nokia fans, Symbian has been slotted as a mobile OS not long for this world…
But the flailing company has grabbed onto a lifeline: photography. The well-known camera phone with the Symbian platform, the Nokia N8, set a high bar. Its sequel will blow other camera phones out of the water. Carl Zeiss and Nokia have collaborated to develop an optics/ lens/ software system that brings a 41 megapixel sensor camera to the marketplace.
