Apple finally announced the iPad. This will be Apple’s attempt into the tablet market. Since they announced it there has been a lot of praise about it, but there is also one major downside. There is no flash on the Apple iPad. This is a problem because it doesn’t allow people to check out flash websites or play flash games.
While Engadget was at the press conference they snapped a picture showing the blue missing plugin icon.

This isn’t a completely unexpected move by Apple considering the iPhone and iPod Touch don’t have flash either, but everyone really wants it.
I guess only time will tell if we will get it, but for now we want to know what our readers think

Anyone who buys Moshi accessories can now be sure that they will “always be heard” no matter where they are thanks to their line of high-end electronic devices made to literally listen to what consumers have to say. This is accomplished by using the company’s unique voice control technology, which combines Phonetic Speaker Independent (SI) Recognition Software with Neural Net, and Hidden Markvoc Modeling ( HMM) so that everyone, regardless of age or physical capability can operate their electronic products by using only their voices without any special training or set-up programming required.

In fact, the company invested three years of research by recording all the different speech and vocal patterns spoken throughout the United States in order to enable all their electronic devices to recognize and respond to a vast array of voice recognition commands without having to modify them according to the different regions where they are sold and used.
Moshi iPhone accessories innovative products include their line of alarm clocks which allow their owners to interface with them directly in order to set the time, as well as choose from a variety of programmable sounds that not only help lull them to sleep, but wake you up with less stress. By simply stating their request to the clocks, people can now tune into the type of music they want to listen to from either an am/fm radio or even their iPod loaded onto the special port. In addition, consumers will soon be able to access the latest weather or traffic reports by asking their clocks Moshi’s latest line of voice-activated apps.
Additional accessories planned for release in the near future include wireless adapters that will allow users to turn on your lights without ever having to raise their heads from their pillows or leave the comfort of their beds.

So rumors have been going around for awhile now and with Apple having an event on January 27th it looks like they will be announcing the new operating software for the iPhone. This will be OS version 4.0 and according to BoyGeniusReport.com there will be some good changes
- There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
- “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
- Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
- The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
- The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.
The downside is that it seems that it won’t work with the first generation iPhone (also known as iPhone 2G), but at least the others will get the latest software
We guess all we can do now is wait until January 27th.

Firefox Mobile gets one step closer to release as the increase of operating systems continues to be developed.
This browser will be intended to be compatible with as many of these operating systems as possible, with the unlocked Nokia phones Maemo and Android being the most popular systems to use the new mobile browser.
Other mobiles and PDAs will be able to use the mobile browser, and Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X versions are also available.

The Firefox Mobile has been a long and relatively difficult system to progress and develop, especially in the market where mobile browsers are becoming increasingly efficient and sought after. It is a competitive market, but the Firefox Mobile is making inroads that a year ago consumers would have been surprised with. The latest release has indeed gained positive reviews already, especially with Nokia N900 unlocked users, and has offered more than was previously expected. Among its developments are the new touchscreen methods increasing the user-friendly aspect on new phones.
They have made a statement by using the Gecko 1.9.2 engine to power the browser, the Gecko being the same engine used on the soon to be released Firefox 3.6.
The grand strides it has made both in credibility and reliability has ensured that the Firefox Mobile gets one step closer to release without so much anxiety for the president of Mozilla Europe, Tristan Nitot. Although, he has already stated that it is too early to release a version of the Firefox Mobile on the hugely popular mobiles BlackBerry or the iPhone.
Though this is a possible negative aspect for the Firefox Mobile, it nevertheless leaves it a junction where it has surprised consumers and rivals alike and can hold credibility in its own right. The future within the most popular mobile phones is a target for the upcoming year after what we can assume will be a successful release.

Google Nexus One is the search engine giant, Google’s new baby. The very first Google phone was spotted in the wild just recently and this rather nifty handset ala android is just awesome. Google Nexus One may look like HTC’s passion but the mere fact that it is produced by Google is something of an innovation on its own. Nobody predicted that Google will be releasing an android. In fact, no one dreamed of Google having its own communication gadgets department.
Google Nexus One is a beautifully made phone with a wide screen that every Smartphone addict will enjoy. The phone was launched by the Search Engine giant last January 5th and is sold at Google, of course. According to the grapevine, Google Nexus One will be available at T-Mobile soon. Now that is good news for T-Mobile users.

Running on a super powerful Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon chip, this android also has high-resolution along with an OLED touchscreen making navigation an easy and fun task.
Google Nexus One or more popularly known as Nexus One is thinner if compared to the iPhone. Thinness is not the issue however but it adds to its style. Performance is always the number factor in a cell phone’s success in the market. Google Nexus One has two microphones, one in the back to eliminate background noise and the one in the front that is utilized by the user. It does not have a keyboard but it does have a cam, which is a bit too large for a cell phone cam but works well nonetheless.
If you do not like working with the large touchscreen, you can opt to use the voice to text feature of Google’s Nexus One. It is like having your own secretary because you can dictate emails and even notes while you speak directly into your Google Nexus One.

Rogers to offer HTC cell phones (DREAM) owners a limited time promotional upgrade to the Magic? This is the news that was announced in the Android forums by a Representative from Rogers Wireless. The news is quite exciting for those owners of the HTC Dream phones because of a previous announcement by Rogers caused a lot of disappointment to them. The previous announcement stated that there would not be an upgrade in the Android operating system software above version 1.5. The company claims this is due to not enough memory being available in the device to be able to handle an android upgrade.

HTC phones has agreed to upgrade the Magic phone model to version 2.1 of the Android mobile operating system. It didn’t take long for Rogers customers to get wind of this news and they were very excited about the upgrade. Owners of the dream received disappointing news because they found out that their devices were not capable of being upgraded. Rogers as a company knew they were going to need to do something to help make these customers happy so they came up with a solution internally to allow current owners of the dream to receive a limited time upgrade to the HTC Magic.
Exact details of the promotional offer have not been revealed yet by Rogers. The rep that posted in the android forums stated that they were still ironing out the details of the promotion and that the promotion was not yet available. This is going to be a great opportunity for customers to upgrade to higher end phone for what is most likely going to be a great deal. If this news affects you, then you will want to pay close attention over the next few weeks to what Roger’s has to say so you do not miss out on the promotion opportunity.

As expected, Bell launched two major smartphones recently, a new addition to the telecommunications company’s HSPA-capable fledgling line.
Unlocked Samsung Galaxy was the company’s first ever-Android phone and it is the very first North American version of the said handset with 3G capability, 1900MHz and 850MHz onboard. Samsung Galaxy also has Android Market along with other apps included in the said android. The phone’s best feature is its AMOLED touchscreen (480×320 at that). It also carries features that are rather upper end Android such as Wi-Fi, GPS and a 5 megapixel snapper.
The phone’s storage capacity is not something to be ashamed about because it has 8GB storage capacity enough for thousands of music files and images or maybe documents for those who love to work on this Smartphone. The storage facility can also have a microSDHC card if you opt for one.
Bell’s price for the Samsung galaxy unlocked Phone is relatively low. For a three-year contract with the telecommunications company, you only have to pay $100. If want the deal to be contract-free you would have to shell out $450.
Claiming an added novelty, the telecommunications company also managed to become the first North American carrier to have Nokia N97 under its wings. The familiar NAM model with 3G capability also has GPS, which comes in handy from time to time especially if you are driving. It also has Wi-Fi a basic requirement for most technologically perceptive Americans and Canadians and a whopping 32GB storage capacity that definitely separates the Nokia N97 NAM from other handheld devices.
For those who love taking photos, the N97 NAM has a 5 megapixel camera as well so snapping a photo is not an issue. Bell made the right choice for taking N97 in because there are many Nokia fans across North America.

The Wind Mobile is Canada’s newest wireless carrier. It has just received permission from the Canadian government to begin operations. It is formatted to work with Blackberry 9700, HTC Maple, Huawei181 data stick, Samsung Gravity 2, and Huawei U7519.

Wind Mobile is making itself very, very attractive to customers. To begin with, it is offering its handsets at cost, giving customers a welcome up front savings. These handsets begin at $130 for the Huawei U7519. Other handsets available are the Samsung cell phone (Gravity) for $150, the HTC Maple for $300, and the Blackberry Bold 9700 for $450. Wind Mobile is opening its first stores in Toronto and Calgary, with services being available in Vancouver, Ottawa and Edmonton in 2010.
Right now, there are three calling plans available to customers. The money-saver plan is only $15 for the basic services, which include unlimited Wind to Wind calling. The more expensive plans, which cost $35 and $45, add unlimited calling all across Canada from the customer’s home zone. Unlimited instant messaging, My Space and Facebook access will add $10 to the bill. Unlimited interned data will add $35.
The people who created this wireless carrier have put in some features that every plan has, and some long sought after features that are unique to this plan. There are no activation fees; no charges for incoming long distance calls; no contracts on services; unlimited WIND to WIND calling; no charges for incoming text messages, ever; no penalties for changing or canceling a plan; no E911 fees; and all plans include call hold, call waiting, missed call alerts, caller ID, call forwarding, and unlimited conference calling at no extra charge. With this new competition, the other carriers of Canada will be looking for ways to meet the features of Wind Mobile’s calling plans. The winners in this competition will be Canadian cell phone users.

WIND Mobile did truly change Canada and Canadians approach to thinking about their phone service and the options that are now there to be considered. Of course, the most obvious way WIND did this is by offering services at previously unheard of and unavailable rates. For so long the three major companies that have controlled the market, Rogers, TELUS and Bell have had the whole field to themselves and without any competition from a forward thinking competitive source, they have pretty much operated however they wanted. They could afford to do this because they controlled the entire situation and were happy to get along with each other and all make tons of profits at the expense of the consumer who had no where else to turn-until now!

WIND Mobile is truly an idea whose time has come. They are an aggressive thinking company offering smart and attractive pricing option plans and unique and diversified services and devices. It appears also that the company is well financed so they are in this for the long haul. It is amazing how just an increase in competition, other avenues for the consumer to have for consideration, changes the entire landscape of a situation. Competition is always good and always vital to the ability of the average person to afford services they require. It should always be encouraged and nourished as it truly is in the best interest of all. One of the results of the WIND Mobile entry into the playing field that is most obvious is that it will immediately cause the existing three to respond by re-evaluating their pricing structures and systems and certainly lowering them so that may now be able to compete. Once again, the real winner in all this is the person who needs it the most, the average consumer. As for their cell phone offerings, it’s not sure if they will be able to carry phones like the iPhone 3GS or Blackberry Bold 2 because of the 1700 band their network runs on.
