Google Updates Mobile Movie Search

December 6th, 2009

The ever updating and changing Google has updated its movie search application that is used by Apple  iPhone, WebOS and Android devices.  Not only has Google updated it on the mobile devices but also online as well.  It seems as though Google is constantly attempting to improve its mobile search applications for a variety of areas.  This will certainly make choosing a movie much easier!

The new Google mobile movie search is simple performed by typing movies on the browser.  Once the site is on the screen, the user simply touches the more movies link.  The screen will then display a variety of options.

google-phoneThe user can view a list of movies now playing.  You can view movies by title or by the category of movie.  The application also tells you the ratings of the movies.  There is a tab called posters which will give you details and a summary of the movie.  You can tap on the cast tab and pictures as well as information about the cast and crew will be displayed.  By choosing trailers, the preview of the movie will be streamed to your mobile device.

By choosing the theaters tab, a list of theaters will be displayed with locations near you.  A list of times for each movie showing will be displayed for each theater.  A map with the location and distance will be able to be viewed.  By using the new and free Google GPS application, turn by turn directions can be provided.  This application will not allow the user to purchase tickets at this time.

The application is currently only available for the iPhone, WebOS and Android devices.  With the ease of the touch screen displays, the search is user friendly and quick.  This will indeed help those who need information about movies to make an informed choice.

Canadians to Enjoy the Benefits of Amazon’s Kindle

December 5th, 2009

Amazon recently announced its decision to make Kindle available to residents of Canada. That digital book reader can hold up to 1,500 different book titles. Amazon has responded the voices of Canadians, Canadians that were eager to get reading during the long winter nights.

Jay Marine, director of product management for Kindle, has said that Amazon did its best to get their bestselling product ready for its Canadian unveiling as soon as possible. Amazon realizes that Canadians want to do more than just read the books on Kindle. They also hope to download newspapers, blogs, and magazines.

amazon_logoAccording to Marine, Canadians will now have access to “a library” within an interval of just “60 seconds.” Moreover, they can make use of the information in that library from any corner of the world.

Amazon’s decision means an expansion to the number of newspapers available on Kindle. Now all Canadian residents can access each of Canwest’s major newspapers by using Kindle. At the same time, those Canadians can read articles from Le Monde, the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, and the Washington Post, in addition to many other well-known papers.

Amazon has not said what Kindle will cost in Canadian dollars, but it has declared that its new product will sell for $259 U.S. on the Amazon website. According to Amazon, any Canadian who buys a Kindle can then read that for two weeks, if he or she is not depending on wireless technology. The Canadian who chooses to read his or her Kindle with wireless turned on should expect to have four days of reading pleasure.

Of course, right now, any Canadian who decides to read a Kindle with or without the wireless adaptation had better have a good reading light. The amount of daylight hitting Canada decreases each day until December 21st, and then increases slowly, over a six month period.

The iPhone 3GS Supreme is Spectacularly Expensive

December 4th, 2009

You can buy it in 22 ct. solid gold with diamonds rimming the sleek edges. It does indeed stand out from the crowd, but the unlocked iPhone 3GS Supreme is spectacularly expensive. Designed by Stuart Hughes, a designer of exclusive, elite gadgets, the iPhone 3GS comes with 136 diamonds weighing 68 cts. altogether. Diamonds also adorn the navigation buttons and front bezel. In all, this extremely high-end phone has 190 diamonds.

The granite block “chest” that houses the iPhone 3GS Supreme is spectacularly expensive, as well. Weighing seven grams, the chest is layered in Kasmir gold and lined with Nubuck top grain leather. Although Hughes and his associates have not released the price of the iPhone 3GS Supreme, some estimates place the value price at about 1.2 million dollars. Hughes lists the luxury phone on his site at a price “to be announced.”

diamond-iphoneWho would buy such an expensive phone? Almost anyone who has the money, actually. The iPhone has suffered the fate of just about every other faddish trend. It hits the market and becomes the craze. Everyone purchases one and becomes a card-carrying member of the “in” crowd that has one. Then, before you know it, everyone you encounter is a part of the “in” crowd.

This inevitable turn of popularity events makes those who have the expendable resources search for more ways beyond phone color choice, ringtones and screen wallpaper to stand out from the crowd. The most immediate way to establish distance is to make the buy that most people cannot afford to make.

All the high rollers know that the iPhone 3GS Supreme is spectacularly expensive, and most would probably not even consider such a luxury choice if they did not have access to money and privilege, but it is a nice choice to have. When their phones start buzzing, they know their diamonds are ringing.

Google Branded Phone: Will the Coming Year Bring Its Release?

December 3rd, 2009

In June of 2008, Gary Krakow foretold release of Android, Google’s Smartphone system, by the end of that year. At the same time, he predicted as well the unveiling of a Google branded handset. While Krakow thought that handset would come out late in 2009, it now looks like the arrival of that handset will follow closely on the welcoming of 2010.

As the New Year approaches, Google continues cooperating with a Smartphone manufacturer. Google aims to have the company name on its own phone by early next year, if not sooner. Google plans to sell that phone unlocked through retailers, rather than through telephone companies.

google-phoneGoogle thus hopes to jump over the hurdle created by the phone carriers. They have placed tight controls on the features and applications that are allowed on Smartphones. Google indicates that its new handset will allow users of that device to determine for themselves what functions their phone will be able to handle.

Of course, Google plans to offer more than an expansion of phone functions. It also expects to include exciting design features on its planned handsets. Ashok Kumar, an analyst with Northeast Securities has spoken with Google’s designers about their eagerly awaited handsets.

The new handsets will place Qualcomm chips in an attractive and adaptable new type of communication device. That device promises to become the new standard for connecting with the internet by means of some sort of mobile gadget.

One can expect TV ads for this new handset to air in the coming weeks. No doubt, those ads will show the user of a Google handset making use of a function that existing Smartphone users have, until now, only dreamed about gaining access to.

Maybe this year people will ask not to be given a Smartphone for Christmas, so that they can purchase one of the new Google handsets.

Introducing the Nokia 7230

December 1st, 2009

In our fast-paced world, it always helps to have a tool that can be used to keep busy people connected to the ones they love. The Nokia 7230 seems to have come up with a sleek, compact, Touchscreen model that makes simple really look good.

The Nokia 7230 unlocked is one of two models designed specifically for keeping users connected through social networking, text messaging, photo sharing and anything else that keeps them in touch with all the people in their lives. A 3.2 megapixel phone, 3G connectivity and 2.4-inch display make it a comfort to send and receive messages. Not only does this encourage one-on-one direct contact among people who know each other well, but it also makes it easier to build connections and relationships through sites like Facebook or Flickr.

nokia-7230

The phone has 2GB of memory. This is not quite as much memory as the Nokia 6700 which has 8GB of memory, but it is still quite useful. The phone book, for example, can hold up to 2,000 entries. The phone offers about four hours of talk time and can stay on standby for up to 14 days. It can support both AAC and MP3 ringtones, and, like the Nokia 6700, has an FM radio for continuous listening for those who get tired of browsing MP3 files.

The phone looks stunning and gives users a choice of colors. Its sleek rounded edges give an upscale look, though the Nokia 7230 is targeted toward the lower mid-range segment of the market. It has the look of Smartphones with Touchscreen technology, but is much simpler to use.

About $50 to 60 less than the Nokia 6700, the Nokia 7230 will be available during the first quarter of 2010. The classic Nokia call quality, phone reliability and convenient, slim compact design, which are the hallmark of previous models, are expected to be just as strong in the Nokia 7230.
