The Nokia 6700 slide, one of two new 3G slider phones from Nokia, have stylish designs and are ideal for users who like to socialize and stay in touch with the people who are closest to them. Both phones, the Nokia 6700 unlocked and the Nokia 7230, are expected to hit the market during the first quarter of 2010.
The Nokia 6700 slimline slider comes with a choice of six colors: petrol blue, red, pink, lime, purple and aluminum. A chrome finish gives the phone an upscale look without all the upscale costs. Its compact design, 3G connectivity, 5 megapixel camera and edit-on-the-go feature make it easier than ever to stay connected to family and friends to share images.

With an impressive battery life, fast processor and 8 GB memory, the Nokia 6700 offers extended time for staying connected.
If you tend to play music on your mobile phone, there is plenty of room for that. The headphones connect via the micro-USB port, so the regular headphone socket is missing from this model. The USB port has a dual function, since it can serve as an adapter for charging the phone when you do not want to lug the heavy adapter with you. If you prefer radio to all the music files on your phone, there is an FM station available for listening.
One of the biggest anticipated complaints about the phone has to do with the chrome in the design. This will make it easy to transfer fingerprints all the time. The case is also made of chrome. This is something users will have to accept about the phone before they buy it. The cost of a snazzy design is fingerprints.
Among other complaints, the phone also has no Wi-Fi connectivity. The keys on the keypad for the Nokia 6700 are not raised but are easy to click. Even with a few challenges, this phone maintains its classic call quality and user friendly design. It will be a hit.

This is a tough question for anybody to answer, but an organization, Telecom Trends International has seen into the future and predicted that smartphones will takeover regular phones by 2015.
Smartphones, which were not even thought of a few decades ago are now dominating people’s lives. Right from your vehicle to calendar, everything is available in it.
Could a common man then had imagined the developments that have taken place in technology in last few years. Though an organization with its expert panel can make a study, yet we believe the definition of smartphones is bound to change with time. Such predictions look a kind of shot in the dark as the change in technology will change the definitions of gadgets with time.
But Telecom Trends International’s recently released report says that in 2016, total mobile handset sales will have a 2/3rd share of smartphones, the rest would regular phones. It remains to be explored that what would be the definition of smart phones by 2015, looking at the rapid development in technology and its adaptation in people’s lives, it looks a wild guess.
Whatever the case, smartphones have definitely grown in popularity because of their utility and integration with user’s lifestyle. A large number of auto companies are trying to bring the vehicles’ controls into smartphones, and so are other companies. So the chances of smartphones overtaking regular phones definitely increase.
At present, the number of smartphones is just handful while the market is clearly and triumphantly dominated by regular phones, which have the basic features. Smartphones are the in-thing and gaining popularity especially the youngsters are adapting very fast.
Let us keep our fingers crossed, since the way the technology is growing, only time will be a better proof of what is to come.

The unlocked Samsung T109 for T Mobile is fairly basic as far contemporary cell phones are concerned. In fact it may prove to be ideal for those cellular phone conservatives who deliberately seek no more from a phone that can place and receive calls whilst still remaining compatible with most other phone and programs. If text messaging is about the most you care to venture into the world of handheld phone technology then the T109 may be for you.
None of this, of course, is meant to criticize the T109. There are surprisingly a good number of people who do not necessarily want an overload of features on a phone that can be so complicated that they need to read an instruction manual just to learn how to place a call.
The T109 is a basic flip phone. The display screen is a fairly-low-to-standard resolution for such a caliber handset. On the screen are display the time, date, battery life, signal strength and caller ID. Although it does not support photo caller ID. The keypad is luminescent and emits a greenish hue like that which is given off by the display menu. Being very slim, compact and light-weight, it does not contain a camera. Indeed, its size and portability stand as one of the T109’s most redeeming features.
To be sure, the Samsung T109 is not completely barebones. It does have Bluetooth capability, including the feature for hands-free use. It comes with a variety of ringtones as well as an application for ringtone downloads. For messaging it is equip for sms, mms and instant messages including AIM and YIM. There is even a recording device, a timer and a currency converter. After all, there have been virtually no reports complaining about its reception and performance. As far as phones go there are definitely worse deals you could get for your money.

The Nokia cell phone division seems to be scraping Symbian S60 by replacing it by Maemo on all its flagship N-series smartphones in future and the transition might take place by 2012.
At an official Maemo-only event at London, marketing personnel of Maemo reportedly revealed that Nokia is planning to drop S60 OS from its top positions. It will be replaced by Maemo, which is an advanced mobile platform. It is Linux based with higher functionalities for mobile computing.
While Symbian is not being dropped, it is just being replaced on top-brands by Maemo. Symbian OS will power new X-series and E-series smartphones while Maemo 5 will power N-series top-end. Although further Symbian powered N-series handsets will be available in market for times to come.
According to Really Mobile Project, Nokia marketing personal let slip that Nokia will abandon S60. The transition will be a gradual one as there are other Symbian-based N-series handsets currently in development. The transition won’t be instantaneous and might take place by 2012 as the N900 handsets which have S60 OS installed on them would continue to service until Nokia arranges to switch them over to Maemo 5 OS.
Nokia is happy with the response Maemo received so far and this might have driven the decision to replace Symbian-based S60 from the top N-series brands. It is notable that Maemo 5 OS received good response as was revealed by Nokia N900 testers during an event, reports said. There are also plans to let ‘Maemo Select’ community portal run parallel with Nokia’s Ovi Store for the time being.
This abandoning move seems to just have come in time as experts speculate that Symbian handsets were getting a run for their money from competitors who are rolling out phones that are grabbing users’ attention. Replacing all the top N-series phone with Maemo might just be a shot in the arm. Only time will tell.

The British Colombia Supreme Court has granted Telus a temporary injunction against Rogers Wireless. The issue has been that Telus claims that the ads run by Rogers are not true. The ads from Rogers state “Canada’s most reliable network” and has speeds “two times faster than any other”. Telus has disputed these claims based on their recently introduced 21 mbps HSPA network.
Telus Corporation, a leading telecommunications company from Alberta Canada filed the suit against Rogers on November 12th, 2009 in hopes Rogers would stop its claims that it is Canada’s fastest and most reliable cell phone network. Several factors have led to the Telus recent decisions. Telus began upgrading its system and completed the transition on November 5th. The company believed that Rogers statements about its fastest and more reliable services were no longer true. Telus company officials had asked Rogers to stop using the claims. Of course Rogers declined to do this.
Believing that Rogers is making false claims, the company pursued the lawsuit. The lawsuit states that Rogers is making false statements and should cease doing so. Rogers officials have denied the claims and have indicated that Telus has no research or factual basis to its suit and looked forward to defending themselves in court.
Upon gaining its day in court, Rogers failed to supply enough evidence and documentation to support its claims. Rogers also admitted it could no longer claim to be the fastest network due to Telus’ upgrades. Rogers officials felt that they would win on the reliability issues but failed to convince the court. Therefore the injunction was granted to Telus. Rogers Wireless has filed an appeal. No date has yet been set for the appeals process. The company must return to the court on November 27 to begin determining how and when ads will be pulled.

BlackBerry fans can soon be on the lookout for the new BlackBerry Pearl 9100. Nothing is official yet, of course, but…
…the new Pearl will have a sleek, glossy new finish and the usual BlackBerry trackball will be replaced with a sensitive and accurate optical track pad. In addition, a half-QWERTY key pad found on other Pearls will make the new Pearl thinner than other models.

The transition from track ball to track pad went smoothly with both the BlackBerry Curve and the BlackBerry Bold 9700 so obviously the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 should also make use of this impressive feature. The track pad is sensitive and accurate, allowing smooth navigation and easy user input. Finger movements are tracked almost as well as with a capacitive touch screen. Better still; the flat pad eliminates the attraction of pocket lint, which the old track ball did constantly.
All the BlackBerry Pearl series have a half keyboard which is better known as a half-QWERTY. Each button supports two keys. Even though this is not the most efficient format for a keyboard, most users will quickly adjust. Just realize that it will take a little longer to type out messages.
The phone looks very similar to the other Pearls in the series. Thanks to the keyboard though, it is a lot thinner than other models. This makes it easier to slip into a pocket or pouch. The BlackBerry Pearl 9100 does not look as impressive as some of the other BlackBerry models but it is still a very sharp phone.
The BlackBerry Pearl 9100 will have all the staple features of a 3G phone. It comes with a camera, a Micro USB port, and a 3.5mm jack. It will also have Bluetooth and Wifi capabilities.
Nicknames to be on the watch for might include “Striker” or “Stratus.

Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) outages have left the users dumbfounded and frustrated. And the reports of trouble in connecting are not taking a break, they are incessant and this seems to be something bigger than anything previously seen. This is the second time in last three months that BlackBerry is facing such problems. However, outages are being reported by AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile as well.
Customers are being affected all around the world. About 75-80 % BlackBerry users are said to have been affected. Users were facing problem connecting to Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry. The emails, instant messaging, were affected for some users while some keep getting switch on / off. Those who use Blackberry as their only source, were the most hit because of their dependence.

BIS uses Research In Motion’s (RIM) proprietary push technology. RIM hasn’t spoken anything about the outages so far that has enraged the affected users even more. A blogger on ZDNet expressed that such outages are unacceptable today and it might keep him away from going to BlackBerry again. Millions of other people like him felt the pinch as they couldn’t access their social networks, IMs and emails. People who tend to depend on their cell phone for business get affected the most.
BIS could be down for several reasons, but if other carriers are also facing problems, then there could be some other issue. With millions of users being affected, this is no small issue with top executives relying on their cell phones for important calls this would really affect the business as well. Initially the problem was speculated to be regional, but when some sites started reporting it, the picture became clearer.
So frequent outages will really discourage users from relying on BlackBerry and might turn them to look elsewhere. The warning bells are tolling.
