So it looks like someone, well actually a couple of someones are set to show a security exploit they have found in all versions of the Apple iPhone. With this new exploit, according to Wired.com, “a hacker could control all the functions on the iPhone, such as e-mailing, dialing contacts — and, most alarmingly, sending more text messages to hijack even more iPhones.” Basically they are almost in complete control of you phone and allowing them to send to your friends to control them.
There is “one giveaway is if you receive a text message containing a single square character. If that happens, [it's suggested] you immediately turn off your iPhone”. Turning off the iPhone is currently the only method to stop the hack. Obviously this isn’t the best option since you can’t do anything else at all. The people who found the hack even say that someone malicious enough could take over all the iPhones in the worldvery quickly.
The two people have contact Apple about the exploit about a month ago but so far Apple has not issued any patches to fix the problem.
It should be noted that the two guys brought it to Forbes but they didn’t actually show them the exploit. So until someone can see a real Apple iPhone or 3GS hacked we have to take this as a mild threat.

So CrackBerry.com has got some information on a new Blackberry Bold, well at least what is being called a Bold since the number is the 9020. This new Blackberry Bold 9020 which looks like it was being called the “onyx”. It is going to be a quad-band phone with tri-band 3G. For full specs check out feedberry.com, but beware the site is not in English. It is going to maintain the “leather” back

Also today from BoyGeniusReport.com we have learned of a new Blackberry 9700. Specs seem pretty standard as it’s quad-band, 3G, comes with Bluetooth and WiFi. Most notably it has Blackberry OS 5.0. Unfortunately it’s still a very new find and no one has any photos yet. As soon as more details become available PureMobile will definitely have them online.

So it’s been about a month since the new Apple iPhone 3GS was released and a lot has happened. In the past month we’ve gone from having a locked iPhone 3GS to one where we now have them software unlocked. The last version of the iPhone took months for them to release an unlock, but this one took a matter of weeks.
The good hasn’t been without the bad. Some people are claiming that the new Apple iPhone 3GS has heat issues. Some are saying that it heats up too much and the white model can be discoloured. So far the reports are few and far between and we, at PureMobile, have people in-house who use the phone with no problems. So I guess to each his own.
Something interesting we have seen is in sales. So over the last month PureMobile’s sales for the iPhone 3GS in Canada has been interesting. As of today the top five cities that have bought the Apple iPhone 3GS Unlocked are Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa. The first four aren’t really a surprise but Ottawa surprised us a little we really thought a city like Edmonton would rank higher but it was our nation’s capitol

So it looks like LG is releasing an new phone in their chocolate line. The new LG Chocolate BL40 looks to be pretty slick. Not too much is known about the phone right now or even if it will be a tri-band or quad-band GSM phone.
What is known is that the phone will be 21:9 aspect ratio for display. This means it will be even wider then a wide screen which is 16:9 and it will have a tempered glass screen making it screen resistant. Other features include:
- Multi-touch input
- Active Flash UI
- Virtual QWERTY keyboard
- HSDPA 7.2 Mbps
- Wi-Fi
- A-GPS
Unfortunately there was a promo video that was leaked but it has been removed from YouTube since then. LG will likely announce the complete specs for the Chocolate BL40 in the coming months for now we just have this image to tease you with

So thanks to MobileCrunch.com we have learned that HTC is finally making the switch to the 3,5mm audio jack. The jack is pretty standard but some companies have chosen to go with either a smaller jack (2.5mm) or go with their own design completely
Well HTC was one of those companies that used a different jack from the 3.5mm “standard” but with the launch of their new andriod phone, the HTC Hero, they will be switching over to the 3.5mm jacks themselves
According to MobileCrunch they HTC position is
The vast majority of devices we launch after Hero will have a 3.5mm jack. Devices that we have already announced but that still come out after Hero will not necessarily be a part of this change…
So it does look like a few handsets will be released over the next year using the old jacks but going forward they will be using 3.5mm jack which will make everyone’s life a little easier.
All we need now is for the companies not onboard with adopting the 3.5mm jack to hurry up and do so. At least most companies are onboard the MicroUSB port for charging your phones

So a few months back we learned that BlackBerry was coming out with a new Curve. Basically it was going to be the “true” successor to the Curve 83xx series of phones. Not that the Curve 8900 series isn’t a Curve, but the new Curve 8520 would be more affordable.
Basically the Curve 8520 will be an upgrade to the 83xx series and a mid-level change to the Curve 8900. It won’t have the exact same. The screen won’t be as good as the Curve 8900 and the camera will only be a 2MP instead of a 3.2MP, but it will be good for people who are looking to get a new curve but don’t want to spend the 500$-600$
Well thanks to Crackberry.com it looks like the new Curve 8520 will be available in August, which hopefully means that PureMobile will have it shortly afterwards for all you. Also it looks like it will be available in different colours like red, blue, black, white, etc… but that’s just a rumour.
So like everything else it’s still not sure exactly when but hopefully the Curve 8520 will be out in time for people to enjoy the new phone over the summer
