This week’s blog is going to be about a new contest we are starting. It’s going to be done on our facebook group which can be found here.
The contest is pretty simple. What you need to do is to take a photo of yourself with a bluetooth headset on and change your facebook display picture for a week to show it. You cannot remove it for the week. We will do periodic checks to see that you are following the contest rules. One other thing the picture has to be clear that you are wearing the headset. No shots from 100ft away that may or may not be you with the headset on. As soon as changed the profile pic let us know by leaving a message on our wall
So it’s a rather simply contest. We will choose a random winner and send you a Bluetooth headset. It’s that simple.

A mobile phone battery loses its charge with regular usage and it needs to be charged after some time to keep the mobile phone working. While most mobile phone chargers can be operated by plugging them into wall sockets, these days car chargers are also available for charging a mobile phone while on the move. Car phone chargers are operated by plugging them into the charging socket of the car’s dashboard. A mobile phone user with a wall charger and a car charger can ensure that his mobile phone can be easily charged whether he’s at home or traveling.
Cell phone wall chargers are supplied with the phone and these are plugged into a wall socket for charging the phone. These light weight chargers use DC power supply to charge the battery of the cell phone. Some popular wall chargers are:
Nokia AC-8U Charger: Nokia chargers are compatible with a wide range of Nokia cell phones. This simple to use charger is lightweight and consumes very less power while charging the phone. The USB plug makes it easy to charge the phone through the USB port.
Sony Ericsson CST-75 Charger: This charger allows users to charge the phone while transferring files, listening to music or making calls. Twin ports on this charger make it easy to attach it with other phone devices like USB cable, music player or phone speakers.

Cell phone car chargers are used for charging the phone while one is traveling. The charger can be plugged into the 12v DC supply socket of the car. Car chargers also have built in short circuit protection that protects them from overheating and damage. Here are some of the top car chargers:
Sony Ericsson CLA-60 Car Charger: This multi-functional charger plugs into the cigarette lighter socket of the car and makes it easy to charge the phone. The charger also comes with a small LED that is ideal for illumination in dark conditions.

So here’s some big news out of Europe today. The GSM Association or GSMA has stated that their will be a universal cell phone charger by 2012. Yes that’s right within the next three years the majority of cell phones will use the same charger which means not only less headaches for the consumer but also less waste as everytime someone buys a new phone you won’t have to buy a new charger. The GSMA has also stated that the charger will consume 50% less energy then current standards.

So far most of the big brands (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, AT&T, Etc…) have already agreed to make this happen. Notably missing from the list is Apple among others.
This is still three years away and it doesn’t mean things won’t change but for now at least there is some hope on the horizon that standards are coming.
