Be the first to own an unlocked sim-free Apple iPhone 8GB
iPhone features the most revolutionary user interface since the mouse. It’s an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch display and innovative new software that lets you control everything using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flip through photos and email them with a touch, or zoom in and out on a section of a web page — all by simply using iPhone’s multi-touch display.
Intelligent Keyboard
iPhone’s full QWERTY soft keyboard lets you easily send and receive SMS messages in multiple sessions. And the keyboard is predictive, so it prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use than the small plastic keyboards on many smartphones.
Before you purchase, please note the following:
- This is the 8GB version of the unlocked iPhone
- The phone is now 100% software unlocked.
- Insert your SIM Card and you're ready to go. Nothing else is required on the part of the user for the phone to work.
- Visual voice mail will not work on this iPhone as it is a carrier dependant feature
- The phone is 100% brand new
- The phone has been upgraded to firmware version: 1.1.4
- Do not update or restore the firmware of this phone as it may lead to the phone becoming locked
- Puremobile will not be held responsible if the user re-locks the phone after purchase

I want to have iPhone in India ? If you can tell me how to buy it..

buy apple iphone unlocked? are you sure it's going to be unlocked? if so sign me up!!! I have heard that the visual voice messaging won't work on a carrier other than cingular becasue it's a feature that is carrier dependant. Doesn't bother me too much because i would prefer to have the iphone unlocked so i use it with t-mobile or rogers / fido in canada and i can travel with it and not have to worry about roaming charges!

how can you give it 5 out of 5 stars if u havent even heald the phone and the phone isent even out IM A APPLE FAN TO AND WANT THE IPHONE but dont just vote for no reson
scuba on April 25, 2007
I gave it 5 stars because I saw the demo presentation that Steve Jobs did and the iphone looks amazing. Not so sure how they will get the phone unlocked because the iphone will probably have some crazy technology, but it will be a best-seller just like the ipod. Plus, what other phone compares to it? the E6 ROKR from Motorola? I don't think so. It might be more affordable, but the iphone looks 100 times better.

Just so everyone knows, you will not be able to buy this phone from anywhere but apple and cingular. They have a multi year contract until 2009. So you wont be getting it off here anytime soon.

the apple iphone looks amazing. i gave it 5 out of 5 stars mainly because of the hype :) when it's released and i'm one of the first to have it I will put a full review of the phone but for now 5 starts for sure!

How does Pure Mobile unlock this phone, which Apple clearly states is exclusive to AT&T?
michael on June 13, 2007
if it's unlocked and gsm based then it would also work in the UK, right? specifically under O2
Martin on June 13, 2007
What is the difference between the apple cell phone, the ipod phone, and the apple iphone? I keep seeing the same picture for all them. I thought ipod and iphone where different. Is Apple launching a ipod phone and at the same time a apple (you know mac branded) cell phone? Can somebody explain to me?
Jackie on June 13, 2007
Martin,
Please don't play dumb. Apple ipod cell phone and iphone and everything else you said is the SAME THING. iPod is for MP3 players only and iphone is a cell phone with iPod capabilities.
Joseph Tremblay on June 13, 2007
I am a PRADA unlocked GSM phone user and as a user of a touch-screen cellphone, I can say that I am excited and impatient to the launch of the Applie iPhone! This Quad-band phone will not only work better than my tri-band Prada, but it will work great with iTunes (as I am a big user of iTunes). Apple certainly did it wll with WIFI support and a decent 2MP camera. I am putting my name down for one and the price is totally justifiable if you don't have to spend 400$ on an iPod...
adfres on June 14, 2007
@Give_Me_A_Break: They don't unlocked them, they probably already get them like that. For example, the BlackBerry Curve is only available on Cingular but yet you see sellers all over the place selling it unlocked from Cingular. I don't think all these sellers are unlocking BlackBerry Curves... I think it will be the same story with the iPhone.
notdumb on June 15, 2007
Don't believe a word of it....Apple has clearly stated the phone will only work on ATT. It will only be shipped to company owned AT&T stores and a fact is that if you were to get it unlocked, wifi, visual voicemail and data features wouldn't work...whats the point of buying a 500.00 phone?

wow, a phone that plays music and videos. unless it come with a built in microwave, i'm not really seeing any revolutionary technology here.
since these are not going to be unlocked by a 3rd party, good luck getting any warranty support for them.
Andrew on June 28, 2007
how would u activate the iPhone if it has to be activatd in itunes and thats when you choose your plan. puremobile is most likely jsut saying they have it unlocked. itll stay "coming soon" until someone figures out how to unlock it. ive heard it won't work with any other carrier besides At &T which sucks for me cuz i live in Canada. if any one finds out wether it is really going to be available unlocked or not let me know.
Dream Buster on June 28, 2007
This phone will not be unlocked for the simple fact that the SIM is internal to the device you can't remove it or change it. And if not activated through Itunes none of it's features will work and that includes the Music player. Exclusive means Exclusive Apple doesn't play arround when it comes to their stuff. When is the last time you could buy Dell with an Apple OS or an HP or an Lenovo....point made.
Eddie on June 28, 2007

APPLEEMPLOYEE on July 1, 2007
OK, THE IPHONE CANNOT BE UNLOCKED. AT&T AND APPLE HAVE COME TO AN AGREEMENT THAT THE PHONE WILL BE COMPLETELY EXCLUSIVE TO AT&T AND THAT THEY WILL NOT OFFER WHAT IS CALLED A SUBSIDY UNLOCK CODE SO THAT THESE PHONES CAN BECOME UNLOCKED. THE PHONES ARE COMPLETELY EXCLUSIVE TO AT&T WITH THE SIM CARD INSTALLED INTO THE PHONE (YOU CANNOT EVEN USE YOUR OLD AT&T OR CINGULAR SIM CARD). THE FEATURES ON THE PHONE WILL NOT WORK ON OTHER CARRIERS
Mostafa on July 1, 2007
today its the 1st and the iphone aint out .... I can wait no longuer
Niamu on July 1, 2007
@notdumb
Apparently you are dumb unfortunately. There is no reason to suggest that WiFi wouldn't work if the phone is unlocked. EDGE probably won't work. But WiFi is a separate data channel and not tethered to Cingular/AT&T's network by any means.
However you would be correct in stating that visual voicemail won't work without some serious hacking.
Tim on July 2, 2007
Why wouldn't an unlock iPhone also work in Europe, Asia and really any part of the world that uses GSM? If I buy an unlocked phone, I want to work everywhere, not just in NA.

Hello, I really want this phone, but I'm T-mobile, and I don't want to change to AT&T, based on this website they will have it unlocked, are we going to be able to use all the features of the phone? please let me know because I don't want to spent that money if I can't thanks.
Huzur on July 4, 2007
Ok a couple facts.
Yes it can and will be unlocked. There is nothing to prevent hackers from doing it. They said that about Blu-Ray, and guess what it was cracked. They said that about DVD and guess what it was cracked. They said that with Vista, and Mircosoft spent hundreds of millions and it was cracked. Anything public can and will be cracked.
Second the visual voice mail is the only feature that will not work, you will have to live with the current normal voice mail. All other features including Wi-Fi and Edge will work.
Third its already cracked for activation, you can now use it as a iPod and Camera with out AT&T activation. So its just a matter of a full unlocked phone now to make the phone work anywhere.
And for those that say its clearly stated that it will only work with AT&T, wake up to technology already. Nothing is crack proof.
Abid on July 9, 2007
Amazing fone. i want the phone asap that is if it truly is unlocked and fully functions in Pakistan let me know!!!!
Dude on July 9, 2007
Huzur, everything can be cracked to a point. For instance the iPhone's SIM chip is completely different from the regular SIM chips. So, even if you can crack the software, your chip from another company WILL NOT WORK.
jb007 on July 11, 2007
Notorious and Huzur don't have any idea what they are talking about. When the OEM and a carrier design a phone from the ground up to work on only one network, they are unable to be used on other networks for the simple fact that they are designed to work on specific type of network configurations (both hardware and software). Not all GSM networks are created equal... Even if you were able to hack the phone to the point of operating on another network, the user experienced would be so dimished, that it wouldn't even warrant the effort (or the cost). All I can say is wait it out and eventually Apple will develop ones for all the other carriers as well (possibly even CDMA, but that is dying animal)
BobbyJoe on July 11, 2007
I agree with Huzur. Some guy already posted photos of how to remove the SIM card, take apart and put back together the iPhone. Thing is, to get it, you need a two-year contract with AT&T. If it's truly unlocked, all you would need to do is buy the phone, activate on a two-year term, pay an early cancellation fee (ECF) which might be hefty, take apart the phone, put your SIM card in, but it back together, and everything but the Visual Mail should work. Also, your warranty won't work either lol.

you don't need to take the phone apart to remove the SIM card. the SIM is removable!! the only thing is that right now the iphone only work with the sim that you activate the iphone and that is trough itunes and AT&T
Dumb Dumb Revolution on August 16, 2007
hmm let me say this. iPhone is a great phone. unlocked or not? I believe someone can unlock it just in minutes. Let see my story.
I stayed at the US for almost 5 whole year. And get a phone a Ericson T26 world with Pre-paid Voicestream provider (I was at Colorado). Then when i back to LA i need to buy minutes, but no where to find at LA. Then my friend told me to use cingural or t-mobile (i forgot). But then it's not working, i know they merge somehow.
Few later after changing phone. I bought a Cingular phone (Nokia) but with T-Mobile service. And i brought it to my country and it's work with my country GSM provier. My friend bought the same phone and bring it to with me bit not working. Why? I bought it a chinese store (they can unlocks phones) and he bought it at their retail store. i have 4 phones that i get from the US only only one that i cant use (sprint, no sim card inside they have inject the card inside).
so unlocking or not, wait until its arrive asian market. I sure once it's reach asian market the phone already unlocked. Like her in my country, you can use lots of different provider in 1phone any phone, just change the sim card. or upgrade it, 1 phone 2 number (yeah there a mod kits like that). Just suggestions buy iPhone ay HongKong if u travel around or S'pore. HongKong much cheaper.
sammy on August 24, 2007

Apparently there is another company reporting that hey can unlock the iphone. It's weird that all of a sudden there are many iphone unlocking solutions available at once. There should be an iphone forum on puremobile just to discuss all the apple iphone unlocking solutions on the net. Apple and iphone are really going to sell through the roof now that the apple iphone cell phone is unlocked for any gsm network. At&t tried so had to avoid the sim-free iphone for nothing! serves them right :)

will the price eventually Come Down?
Norman on September 1, 2007
I for one will not be buying an iPhone even if by the time i want a new phone theyre down to 20 dollars, heres why : no video camera, no picture or video messaging, the onscreen keyboard is much slower to use than say the QWERTY of the LG EnV, that screen is going to need constant cleaning, and i would not want to pay upwards of 2 thousand dollars for an unlocked one just so i could be on my own choice of network, and as far as being a music phone, i would much rather use a sony ericson phone over a phone with iTunes, but thats just me

I would like to purchase an apple i phone. Do you think the i phone price will drop a lot in the next few months? I have seen the apple i phone cost around 600 at the at&t store but they don't have the unlocked i phone... Thanks.
feel stupid? on September 8, 2007
The iphone is unlocked, and now can be software unlocked by plugging it in and clicking unlock. Furthermore, to activate the iphone without itunes so you don't sign a contract, search "activate iphone" on google download the piece of software, plug it in, and click activate software. For the so called apple employee, if you were, you would understand that apple plans to release there phone to the public in the unlocked form after 2 years, they did not design too os x platforms for it,(1 locked 1 not) they simply used a sim lock algorithm which can be taken off by cracking the code, which 3 companies already have. If you really were an apple employee you would know this. And no, the sim card is not internal, you can remove it with a paper clip at the top.
Bubuyovich on September 12, 2007

Hi, any idea what king of data plan you need for this? I have a rogers $60 Blackberry plan for 200 mb. Can I just swap sims (after unlock) and the data comes out of the 200 mb? Or do I need another data plan?
Lifter on September 25, 2007
I just received this phone in Vancouver and am using it with Rogers with no problems. Nothing else is even close to this phone in quality and usability for your average user. Previously I had used the Rokr E6 which is a fine phone, but not in the same league in any way.
One warning tho...Apple may soon disable these unlocked phones via a firmware update. Do not use Itunes 7.4 and do not update your unlocked phone.
homeboy on September 26, 2007
i am wondering if i should get a phone from here. To be honest, I will be quite happy if I can recieve sms and phone calls
Patrick on September 27, 2007
sk, your going to be fine with rogers. I did the same thing. With that plan however, you'll be charged $0.07 per kb if you go over. Limit your data usage for the first month just to see where you're at, then you'll be able to gauge it the following month. Also, depending where you are, you're going to have a hell of a time getting the full EDGE network from rogers in anything but extremely urban areas. The rogers network simply isn't ready to handle the iPhone yet.
David on September 29, 2007
Why are there no postings from ANYONE who has bought the phone from pure mobile?
Miranda on September 30, 2007
Guys! This is a good phone BUT consider this:
-every 9 months a new apple product comes out (read the news)
-if you wait 9 months, the next iphone will have faster internet (internet speed on current iphone depends on location and reception)
-the touch screen is quite hard to control
-check out the prada phone, it looks JUST like the iphone...makes me wonder who copied who...
that's all, if all the aboce criteria dont bother you, i think iphone might be the one for you!

Okay I know there are alot of questions out there about the unlocked iphone. I personally have an unlocked iphone. Everything on it works (wifi, youtube, edge...etc.) I am using it with t-mobile and know someone who is using it in the middle east with their local cell phone company. So far its been working great.
Therefore it should work with any sim card. I also have iTunes 7.4 and it syncs fine with it. I has many questions before I unlocked my phone and believe me the only thing I have to tell you is be careful not to upgrade the software to 1.1.1. Its really simple just ignore whenever iTunes tells you that you that there is an update for your phone.
Its a great phone guys, enjoy!
NOTE: I did not purchase my phone from puremobile.com I had it activated with AT&T and later unlocked it on my own.

I just got one from PureMobile, it's awesome, I live in BC, canada, and it came with 1.1.1 firm and I use it on FIDO, I just put in the sim card and pretty much everything works great. One problem is with the voicemail alert. The text msg itself works fine, but there seems to be no MMS messages. EDGE works great so does Wifi, the problem with voicemail is that, when your Fido phone receives a voicemail message it sends you a text msg alert telling you that you have a voice msg, unfortunately the text alert is not recognized by the iphone and therefor discarded. So regular text msg works fine, but you will not know if someone leaves you a voice message unless you actually call your voicemail. Another problem is that when you are on the phone talking with someone, you can sometimes inadvertently hit the mute button or the number keys with your face, because the screen seems to be heat sensitive. I wish there was a lock for the keypad when you're talking on the phone. Other than that, no worries, I use IzyMail for receiving hotmail also. When I first got the phone I didn't know any of this so good luck.

I have a question and I'd like someone to help me please, I bought a cracked iPhone, the version of the software is 1.1.1, the phone works very good but I didn't put music on it, so I am asking: Which version of iTunes shall I use to put music on the iPhone if my software version is 1.1.1? and I shall not do so that I don't ruin the crack?
Steve on December 5, 2007
with the amount of hot spots in Canada and available free wifi I haven't even needed to set up my edge network. I just use free wifi. You should all do the same to avoid high data costs

With YouTube.com, the internet as a research tool, and many user reports on the iPhone, it surprises me to see many of you saying the iPhone can't be unlocked, won't work in Canada, can't be activated, and so on. One person left a comment stating that the SIM card was internal therefore making the iPhone unusable on any network. Hello? Do your research. The SIM card is not internal to the iPhone. Then there's the lot of you that is asking, "will the phone work in the UK, in Italy, on other networks other than AT&T?" What part of Unlocked do you people not get? Unlocked GSM phone means it will work anywhere in the world, on any GSM carrier. Unlocked means 'NOT CAGED TO ONE SOLE NETWORK'.
Contrary to popular belief, there really is a such thing as a stupid question, or retarded statement.

Guys, I am little confused, I live in Canada, and with Rogers network. Right now i use Nokia 9300i, I want to change my phone now.
If you have a choice between Nokia E90( communicator) and iphone, which one would you buy?
Please respond ASAP.
Thanks

Hey "Yesh", I have a friend who has an iPhone which he won at a wedding social (a Manitoba thing) and it works great. He is on the Rogers network. If you buy an iPhone, you have to configure it yourself for MMS messaging/web browsing as it's a non-branded phone if you buy it through puremobile. You can google it online and find the settings to configure the phone. It's fully functional sans the visual voicemail as it is not configured on Rogers/Fido. Wi-Fi works great! With all the Firmware updates and "unlocking" hype going around, it's best not to update the phone but with those minor issues, the phone certainly works fine and besides, getting one gives you EXCLUSIVITY as people here have Blackberry Pearl/Curve/RAZR phones. Only thing is you can't tell an iPhone from an iPod Touch unless it rings. If you want to go cheaper, go for the Motorola ROKR E6. Another magnet for EXCLUSIVITY, I own one and it gets attention constantly and works fine and is fully functional. I'm planning to get an LG Viewty next month so be sure to look for my review on it. Apparently it is an iPhone-killer but LG has shoddy reception issues and it has no Wi-Fi connectivity. The video (120 fps recording-like an actual camcorder) and Camera (at 5.1 MP compared to iPhone's 2.0 MP) are its selling points.

Why are people who don't have the iPhone hating on the Apple product so much. I read comment's like, If I have the money to by one I wouldn't it's this and this is wrong and that is wrong. How in the world would you be so certain if you your self don't own one. In my opinion unless you own one and use it daily, your words are just hearsay. Peace to all the Apple lovers out there. Go iPhone

What is Sim Free? A sim free phone is a phone that is not
locked to the sim card of a specific carrier.
What is Unlocked? An unlocked phone is a phone that can work
with any sim card and/or GSM service provider. Please note that at least one
of the GSM Bands in the phone should match the GSM service prodiver's bands.
What is a Sim Card? A sim card is a small flat rectangle plastic
that contains a microchip. This microchips is the heart of your phone, it contains
your phone number, your address book, and the necessary information for your phone
to work. All sim cards look the same, but the microchip inside is different for
every GSM service provider.
What is a GSM service provider? A GSM service provider (carrier)
is a company providing you with a working line and phone number. To do this, they
will provide you with a sim card.
My GSM service provider does not have sim cards, why?
If your service provider does not have sim cards, then it does not use GSM
technology. Our phones will not work with non-GSM service providers.
What is GSM and non-GSM?
GSM is a mobile phone technology that uses TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access).
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile communications. The competing system is CDMA
(Code Division Multiple Access). GSM and CDMA are not compatible systems. If a phone
is designed for GSM, it will not be compatible with CDMA and vice-versa.
What are GSM Bands 900/1800/1900 Mhz? GSM technology can work on
up to 4 frequencies: 850 Mhz, 900 Mhz, 1800 Mhz, and 1900 Mhz.
Some GSM phones support all the bands or frequencies, or just a couple.
A dual band phone supports only two, usually 900/1900 or 850/1900.
A tri-band phone supports three bands, either 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900.
A quad-band phone supports all GSM bands. Quad-band phones are able to
work with any and all GSM service providers.
On the other hand, GSM service providers support just a subset of all the GSM bands
available. Before buying a GSM phone, make sure the phone supports at least one
of the bands that your GSM service provider supports.
Do I need a contract to buy an Unlocked Phone?
No. A contract is required between you and the GSM service provider for you to
get a working phone line. A contract is not required between you and PureMobile.
No service plan included?
GSM service providers offer phones at discounted prices attached to their service
plans. The catch is these phones are locked to their sim cards. You cannot
use them with other GSM service providers. Our mobile phones are unlocked, they
reflect the real market price of a mobile phone and they are not locked to
a specific GSM service provider. That's why we do not attach any service plan to them.
What are 3G / HSDPA Bands?
3G is the 3rd Generation of mobile standards. 3G is also known as HSDPA or HSPA. 3G technology provides high speed data transfer which allows for a much richer multimedia experience on mobile devices. 3G technology allows for faster internet access, streaming tv and video, music and other types of entertainment content. A data plan with a GSM carrier is recommend to use 3G / HSDPA technology.
